First the sore throat started, then the cough. Now the nose is dripping and I'm congested.
Why are colds so miserable? Haven't I been exposed to every strain of rhinovirus yet? Can I get a tabulation as to how many more strains there are left for me to encounter from ATCC?

Sorry you're sick, I hope it's not something worse than a cold.

Will an allergy pill help you any? Usually does for me, but my issues are allergy related anyway.....

The cough is the worst thing I've got going on right now. My ribs hurt from coughing so hard and frequently. I just took a major glug of the cough syrup with codeine that I bought the last time I was in Canada, but not sure how much longer it's going to last me.
If things get too bad, I can take the Nyquil and go to bed. It's not that bad yet though....
BTW......TD and I had a wonderful time in Chicago last weekend.

I guarantee you, we saw neither of those two. When TD weren't in our room , we were with my Turkish friends who were there for a business meeting. My throat started getting scratchy Monday morning, right before we left for the airport. Hopefully, I've not given it to TD.

I've got the stuff to make chicken noodle soup in the fridge, but can't work up the energy to do so myself. A can's not going to cut it.

That would make them pretty evil to deliberately spread disease and pestulance like this, right?
Oh, wait! I forgot of whom you speak!

mich, if it's still legal to buy it in your state, Advil Cold and Sinus. I swear by that stuff, everything else makes me groggy, loopy, or it just doesn't work.

It's still legal to buy it OTC, you just need to sign your life away. KY's legislature's trying to get a law on the books to make it necessary to get a prescription for the good stuff, but it's not passed yet.

Advil Cold and Sinus and some caffeine can make me feel half human.
If you have a sore throat and coughing my grandma swears by her cough syrup of whiskey, lemon juice, and honey. I think the point is you will either quit coughing or be passed out and not care anymore.
At this point with the sinus drainage since i came back from TN I am this close to shooting straight whiskey. I've been like this since I moved up here it sucks. When I was still staying at my brother's he came home with a bottle of Wild Turkey for me. I had bought shot glasses in Clearwater so I did shots that night.
Mucinex used to clear my drainage in a day or two and a bottle lasted me forever. The max strenght stuff doesn't even cut it anymore. I hope allergy shots do the trick. I am tired of hacking up stuff all the time.

Good, even though I owe you for the crud you gave me after my hip replacement. But I think you were far more miserable than I was!

I was afraid this thread was an off-shoot of the circumcision thread when I first read the title. I sorry to hear Mich is feeling poorly but better that than what the title suggests.

Vodka and orange juice might help. You'd get your dose of vitamin C anyway.

Margarita = lime juice + tequila, so that would do equally well....right?
It looks like the cough syrup has finally kicked in, but it's making me feel groggy. I may just make a cup of hot tea, that's really all that sounds good.

Margaritas would be good too.
I think hot stuff would help soothe the throat and open up the sinuses. I just abhor tea so that's out for me.

Tea's usually where I go when I feel ill. For some reason, I'll go off coffee. Guessing no need to set the coffee pot tonight.

When I have a sore throat I heat up water, squeeze fresh lemon in it and a squeeze of honey.

Rhinovirus Michelle is alive and well. Well, to use that term, she's not really well yet. As she put it, she's still coughing and spreading disease and pestilence, hence her new name.

How many times does granny have to tell you. GARGLE AS SOON AS YOU HAVE AN INKLING OF A COLD. Gargle with any liquid to wash those germies away.
(If I knew how, I would put that in larger letters and color.)

Zicam is supposed to be good if you take it at the first sign of a cold. Just don't take it on an empty stomach or you will likely hurl.

Why are colds so miserable?
Mich1 I haven't had a cold in a good 4 or 5 years. I haven't done anything special, just haven't caught one.
The cough is the worst thing I've got going on right now. My ribs hurt from coughing so hard and frequently.
On the other hand my allergies kick up for 3 months (this year it was 4 months) every single year. Whatever I'm allergic to (I think it's ceder) if I were put in the same room with it I'm pretty sure that I would die. I've never even seen someone react the way I do to this stuff. As for cough, I FINALLY went to the doctor & got Tylenol #3 (1/2 gr of codeine) & it truly saved my life. I think it's a suck drug for pain but it cut down my coughing by 95%. I had a coughing jag once & I thought that I was going to pass out from lack of oxygen. Until I was exposed to this stuff I thought that someone that breaks a rib coughing must have some kind of weak bone problem. You have my sympathies!

Gargle with any liquid to wash those germies away.I've heard Hydrogen Peroxide is good to gargle with. Then swallow so you can get the buggies in your stomach too!
