Thanks! I'm hoping other people will add some useful links, as well ~ and that people with questions can be directed to the Resource Thread.

A RESOURCE FOR PARENTS AND MENTORS Marines. The Few. The Proud Marine Corps training has not changed too much in 40 years. The training is still rigorous and those unable to adapt both physically and mentally will not succeed in earning the title "Marine." From what I've read, there is less abuse of recruits these days (a good thing). Moms and Dads, rest assured, the training will not kill your son or daughter. It will, however, instill a lifetime of discipline in him or her for the rest of their lives. For example: I still fold my underwear a "particular" way that my family can never fully understand/appreciate. All my shirts and jackets in my closet face left--without exception. I still check my "military alignment" every morning when I dress and know to salute our flag the "Marine" way. This is not to say I'm not individualistic, but my military training has prepared me to face many difficulties. The best attribute of my training is that I KNOW that I'll always be faithful to my God, my family, my country, and my Corps. www.lifeasamarine.com/www.usmc-mccs.org/family/

Btw any time a Mod wishes to deleted anything that I post go for it, but just send me a PM......I don't have any problem having my posts deleted especially my jokes that may too tough to take early in the AM without a second cup of cafe du jour. And is reply #3 OK?? Click on the link and if you don't think so then go ahead and delete it ..

I would also advise people to go to the VA hospital and talk to a representative for your particular era of military service. They can help a lot in navigating the system and with benefits to help people get on their feet.
