A fairly technical point, but 401Ks can be converted to regular IRAs at some age. Even at 59-1/2 with an "in-service" distribution (which I plan to take). And currently regular IRAs can be converted to Roth IRAs. Whatever may happen will likely affect all of these tax-advantaged schemes. And that presents the solution...avoid tax-advantaged schemes. Or at least don't put all your nest eggs in them.
