Z - the Brady Bunch movie was so funny. Not worth theater price, but definitely worth watching if you watched the show at all as a kid. I thought they did an excellent job on the casting. the remake that bugged the crap outta me was Death at A Funeral. Never watched the American version. The original (Brit movie, I think) was hilarious. Why would you remake a movie in 2010...in the SAME LANGUAGE...as the original made in 2007? I recently saw Death at a Funeral with Martin Lawrence. it was pretty funny...well I know I laughed a few times.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw the white version. I was wondering if maybe the black version wouldn't be geared to me (all pasty and stuff.) I'll just let the brit version live on - it was too weird to watch a second version of it.
Brady Bunch movie was really just 90 minutes of making fun of the tv shows. If you didn't grow up watching all of them every day at 4, and saw them all 12 times - I can't imagine the movie would be any fun. It didn't even try to be a real movie - just a giant ball of mimicking the original for fun. I thought it was hilarious. "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!"

There are a lot of versions. My absolute favorite is the George C.Scott version from the early '80s.

MY FIL loves the Patrick Stewart version too. It's good. Most of the versions have been good. I haven't seen the animated Jim Carey version yet. I'm just partial to the George C. Scott version, probably because it's the one I grew up with.

How about Cape Fear of 1962 and 1991? I like the older version but remake wasn't to bad.

I'm surprised they haven't remade "Shadow of a Doubt." That's a great suspense movie. If they did remake it, I don't know about it, and that's probably better.

I just watched The Fast and the Furious 1954!!! it's even in black and white absolutely NOTHING like what I have in my DVD collection. also a shame the the one I have is not an original? well then again maybe it is an original? it's just the same title as another movie.
this 1954 version....me no like! NOT that I was comparing it to the modern movie series franchise but it was an different time period / era and ...well it's just stupid!

now 'The Thing' is out in movie theaters. GF said this is a version of the team BEFORE the movie with Kurt Russel. The Kurt Russel version his team is the Second team to go out there. So we are interested to see this movie maybe this weekend would be good. because there is a woman in this updated version, so GF is like there was a woman in the first team. but I said well....sometimes remakes throw in a little somethin different. but she is 98% alwayz right!

Predictions for shitty remakes:
Logan's run (maybe- could be done right) 6 million dollar man Poltergeist Dirty Harry Any other TV show or movie that made money
And don't say ET- all that needs is CGI to ruin it.
Hollywood is not out of ideas-it is full of executives that want to bank on the lowest common denominator. Support independent film!

I like Michael Caine in "Muppet Christmas Carol." My FAVORITE version of A Christmas Carol! That is my favorite movie of all time!!!!!!! I listen to the cd in my car whenever I get the chance. I just adore that movie. I agree with finding movies to make that aren't remakes, but some I don't mind because I haven't seen the original. Like True Grit. I really loved the new version, but I also had never seen the original. I can't believe they are going to do a Dirty Dancing remake. That is blasphemy.

That's a good point! why remake a move that already topped box office records? I would have thought the remake of ET would be done to death like Batman movies. but the remake of ET would be horrible and most likely loose money.

Z - look at the Connections link to see the other film. It was originally Death Takes a Holiday. A very old (B&W) flick. I didn't really care for the first one.
Always was a remake of A Guy Named Joe. I like both versions.
Heaven Can Wait was a remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan. I prefer the first one, but the Warren Beatty version is okay.
Young Frankenstein is a great example of a re-make. If you watch the original James Whale movies, Young Frankenstein is even better because you get more of the inside jokes. Mel Brooks even got some of the original set pieces.

PEACHok there is a movie coming out June 5, 2012 called Battleship. NOW - I'm thinking this is finally a NEW movie idea. Producers, writers, and actors finally put on their thinking caps and actually came up with a new idea for a movie. and not from a book? or it this movie a remake? I'm looking forward to seeing it either way.

I don't know much about that movie. To be honest, I was wondering if they made it based on the kids game. Is the final line of the film going to be "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!" ;D

do you remember the end of the first MIB, where they did the outward camera shot and Earth ended up being a marble in some alien's game? That's what I picture as the end...we find out the entire movie was just a game played by alien giants. The movie has been totally serious, then "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!"

I can see The Sitter - 2011 Jonah Hill being a remake of the movie Adventures in Babysitting - 1987 Elisabeth Shue which I think I will add AIB to my Netflix list to watch again - though I'm pretty sure I remember the movie

Now on second thought Project X -2012 is not really a remake of Weird Science - 1985 Anthony Michael Hall? well they are similar - both movies teenagers throw one huge FN party - epic party and trash the house! Dad's prize car gets totaled - oh wait that was ummm... Ferris Buellers Day off - 1986 Matthew Broderick LOL ok - so maybe Project is not a remake of Weird Science - but it's a remake of some movie where teens throw a party and trash the house and car? Peach you around?

we watched Son of Frankenstein last week. Young Frankenstein got a LOT of material from that movie. It's tough to watch Son of Frankenstein (which is not intended to be a comedy) without laughing once you've seen Young Frankenstein
