I guess they forgot that they need to send them somewhere. Unless Texas is going to pay to keep them in prison indefinitely. Quite the conundrum!

Regarding Mexico: I heard late yesterday that Mexico would refuse to let the immigrants, except for the immigrants who are Mexican citizens, back into Mexico frm which they came. So it isn't absolutely all immigrants being refused. Just only none Mexican immigrants. Will still be a large number Mexico will refuse entry.

I mean, I know that means they remain in custody somewhere....but where? and on whose dime? this is political theater for sure, but who ultimately ends up paying for it?

If they arrest someone for a crime now, and they are not a legal resident, they can call ICE. Guess they will try that.

We will have to see what happen if Abbott's bill is ultimately allowed to stand. Texas is whining how expensive it is now with the migrants. Lets see what Abbott and Texas have to say if they ultimately win the lawsuit, Mexico refuses all non-Mexican citizens and then Texas must pay to house, feed, and provide medical care to them indefinitely. Or fly them home. It will be very costly either way. Maybe they are now thinking twice about following trump and trump's comment to republicans to refuse the bipartisan senate bill offered to them in January. It may not have been a perfect bill but it is a hell of a lot better than what is now going on in Texas.

Nor bus them back over the border as they would have to go through Meixco Customs. The migrants can refuse to go. Then Texas will have to house and take care of them. I believe the migrants Mexico will not let back into the country could be flown from Texas to their home country. Home country I believe would accept them as they are citizens of same.

They do not have the power of the Federal government, and do not have a foreign policy. But stupid has to stupid

Not going to happen.

i was going to go to Texas this year to see the eclipse. was going to spend thousands doing it, invite the family, etc. but a combination of price gouging and...well...TEXAS made me change my mind.
i am going to Mexico instead. unfortunately, the peso has been strong for a while, so not going to go as far as i wanted. still, half the price.
f(*k Texas.

If the border is open, why do they need to knock guards out of the way?

Congress just passed a budget. Did they put anything in it to increase security at the border, or did they just continue the status quo, since the house refused to pass the prior deal. See, here is the issue. Conservatives continue to complain about the border(including you). But I see them doing nothing to change the status quo. Do something to change the situation at he border or STFU. Don’t care d we much. But if all you wss as Mr to o do is complain, I have no interest in hearing it anymore

So what are republican U.S. senators working along side democratic U.S. senators doing about it? They tried to do something about it but in January, trump told the republicans in Congress to kill the bill. The House refused to even entertain the bill. So who exactly is at fault here? The answer is donald trump and the republican members in Congress afraid of him. That is who is at fault.

of course the border is open. i cross it twice a year. i wouldn't want it any other way. this is not West Berlin. not yet, anyway. if your point is that we need to do a better job securing the border, nobody is debating that. so, what is your point, exactly?

i am really tired of people oversimplifying this issue.
stop whining and tell us what you would do.
i will go first, if you like, even though i am not whining.

Unfortunately, the GOP killed the bill that gave the POTUS the power to close it for the day, and added money for the wall, and added money for enforcement (aka border agents) and added money for more people to process anyone asking for refugee status. If only both parties actually wanted to fix it.

Trump says he could close it without congressional authority. and that is true. if he starts another pandemic. and i would not put it past him. he seems to have ZERO feelings for the million that died unnecessarily in the last one.

Well since it appears congress, regardless of who's at fault, then Biden should militarize the border. Yes, it's a long border but it might force the migrants to think twice or make it harder for them before coming north.

i really don't get why you and others are insisting on lawless action when there is lawful action available at the stroke of a pen.
PLEASE explain that to me.

here is the thing, rip.
Biden has said he would utilize the authority in that bill to shut down the border. i actually found that fact shocking. he occasionally shows himself pretty conservative. like with Israel, as a 2nd example. but i think it is consistent for him.
ergo, he does NOT currently have the authority to do it, and the GOP is keeping him from having that authority. how is that Biden's fault?
if the only action that makes you happy is an illegal action, i can't entertain it, no matter how much either of us want it, rip. that should not surprise you or make you suspicious.

Do you think that the US has a surplus stash of troops somewhere who have a reasonable type of training to secure a civilian border?

most of us watching this debate don't get it, because on the merits, there is a discussion to be had, but we are continually getting pulled off on meritless tangents.
