Favorite Drink: Sometimes I drink water... just to surprise my liver!

My daughter just called me. They are at her Dad’s house, they are having a tent party for the kids’ birthdays. They had planned to do it a couple weekends ago, but it kept raining. It rained this morning, but they decided to just go on and do it anyway. She called me, stressed out, because DGD1’s ponytail caught on fire from a candle. Somebody used water to put the fire out before it reached her scalp, but most of the ponytail is gone, which is most of her hair, because it was all in one ponytail. DGD has a LOT of hair, and she has been very serious about her hair since she was a toddler. She would come and ask me or DD to comb her hair if it hadn’t been done yet. She is a girly girl. Idk where she got that from, neither me or DD are girly girls, but I accept and even like that about DGD1, and indulge her. One of her favorite things when she visits me, is when I shampoo and pamper her hair like she is at a salon. She is all giggles when she is running around with a plastic cap on for 30 minutes while deep conditioner does its magic. She loves it, and I enjoy doing it for her because she enjoys it so much. DD is very upset that her baby’s hair was on fire and DGD1 is devastated. I was on speaker, so I told DGD1 that she is not her hair, she is still a beautiful girl whether her hair is short or long. I told her we will take care of it, and it will grow back. I told her we will have to cut it some more to get to the healthy part, but it will grow back and in the meantime, she will still be just as beautiful as she’s always been. I understand why DD is so upset, I can’t imagine the horror of seeing your child’s hair in fire. OMG, I'm so glad she is okay! That would be SCARY!

Pink I'm glad your granddaughter wasn't hurt! That is so scary!
I would totally move out of town to six acres of land. But I would have to win the lottery to be able to afford that in my location.
We currently have a new subdivision of 12 big, two-storied houses being built behind us. They are 15 feet back from our property line. We have lived here for nearly 30 years, and that property used to be a wooded homestead. These new houses are lovely, and selling for 800k and up. And I hate it. I've lost the privacy of my backyard.
So yes, I would move in a heartbeat.

My hubs loves where we live. And neither of us wants to be so close you can reach the other house. All the new houses up here are being built with a walkway between them, to me glorified apartments. I just can't do that, that is why we are looking at older homes with at least a yard.
We are pretty much realizing, or he is we are going to have to go at least $500k or even $550k to do it and we don't want to pull that much out of investments. So we are back to selling again before we move. If I could get him to store stuff we could go ahead and get the house on the market, but he is a stubborn man. I will go home and start getting ready for a big yard sale, told him he will have to help me.
The house had so many issues, it has been a rental for years. The stove, fridge, nor d/w were good, they were nasty. The kitchen sink had a pipe out and water was running in a pan. The cabinets were solid, could be refinished an had new doors and countertop put on and would have been fine. The living room and kitchen layout wasn't bad. I think the septic had been redone. But something was wrong under the house. Son said all the insulation under the floor had been removed and none of the ductwork was insulated. And they put in new carpet, we think to hide something, there were soft spots in some of the floors. There was new insulation in the attic, we think either flooding under the floor or leaking above, so just too much. Son said likely take a year or two to redo it. And the oddest bathroom. In the master walked into a sink and commode, in the next room, a tub, turn the corner and a sink and toilet, no 2 showers or tub??

I was out most of Thursday. Went to the pool, and in the evening went to Trivia night. I get home, sitting on the balcony around 11PM, and I hear people in my house! Scared me half to death! It was Simon and Melody. They drove all the way from Pierrefonds because Simon thought I was dead! He was shaking and crying nonstop. Hugging me while weeping. They tried to call me 15 times, with no answer. He suddenly wanted to do chores around the house, taking out the garbage, putting carpet down, etc., for me. Crying the whole time and hugging me every 20 seconds. It was unreal. I think I know what brought this on. My BFF's sister wouldn't answer the phone. They did a wellness check, and she was dead, with her 6dog guarding her. Once he started crying he couldn't stop, even after seeing I was fine. I think it wasn't just worry and panic about me, but finally letting his his feelings out about his dead friends, Ryan and Cameron. I'm glad you are okay. I hope you enjoyed Trivia night! Trivia night was a hoot! Our team came in 2nd, but we were smaller than the other teams, only 4 people. Our team was called the Spanish Inquisition (because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition). I'm perfectly fine, thank you.

Cracked open my second adult beverage.
This morning, I watched the funeral of a police officer killed in the city i grew up in.
Then I stopped by the celebration of life for my former BIL. He was found deceased in his apartment on Tuesday. He was only in his 50's however he was autistic. He was so proud of himself since he had his own apartment. He juggled several jobs to live on his own.

A cousin's daughter died suddenly this morning. She went to the mail box to get their mail and didn't come back. She was on the ground and deceased. It is not known why so an autopsy will be performed.
37 years old, with 3 daughters and a husband left to mourn. It's unbelievable that she died so suddenly at that age.
I am shocked. Her sister is the one with anorexia. This is where she would go spend time when she needed to get away. The parents are now very worried about their 2nd daughter. Her anorexia has caused her to look like death warmed over. She has heart issues. I would never be surprised to hear she died suddenly.
Too young. Way too young.

Glad it was just her hair, Pink Cashmere, and so sorry that her hair burned. That is really tough to handle for a child.

Yikes.
Ners sorry for your losses. I think BIL should have been proud of doing multiple jobs to have an apartment.
TheOtherMe, how very tough. Sorry for your loss and best wishes to your cousins.

The T’s had a BBQ today to celebrate their oldest daughter graduating from high school. Mrs. T seemed to really want me to come over, so after I took a shower and changed clothes, I asked Mister to walk over there with me, and he did. We didn’t stay long, a little over an hour, and we got back home about 20 minutes ago.
I am heading to bed soon, I was up wayyyyy too late last night, and paid for it today. I still don’t regret hanging out with Mrs. T last night, but I have to be more sensible tonight lol.

Stick a fork in me. I am so done. Normally I have 30-45 "active minutes" per day per my fitness tracker and right now I'm sitting at 346! Besides hosting the party and grilling in the 85 degree heat half the afternoon I removed my mower deck and replaced the belts and put it back on and mowed for about an hour (until the mower ran out of gas).
I'd love to just take a shower and crash but instead I'm sitting down at the lake eating chips and waiting for Carrot. He's at a concert that I THOUGHT would be done around 9, but he ran out at 8:40 to tell me it was just intermission and he thinks it will be closer to 10:30 or 11:00! I may fall asleep in my van waiting! 😴
He said they'd let me in, but I'm filthy dirty and sweaty. Best I sit at the lake!

It is so cold here. Little guy brought his scooter and has been out running up and down the street in the subdivision. He needed to wear off some energy, but it got to cold to stay out there, brrrr.
Our furnace has run every night since I've been here.

I found my grandma's die cast pencil sharpners.
Apparently I've had them all this time. We found them while cleaning the basement.
Unfortunately the cash register and globe are missing those were my favorites.
But I have the rest.
I showed them to Abby. She was fascinated which made me happy.
I got DHs PS2 and PS3 games in my trunk to take to my coworker. We didn't want to toss them and resell value is nada. My coworker has the consoles so I know he can play them.
Retrieved grandma's sterling silver tea set. My mom wanted it to go to Gwen.
Got my great aunt's paintings donated. The thrift store I gave them to deals with estates so hoping the paintings find good homes.
The basement looks pretty good. More room for Christmas stuff.😁

well, I just woke up on the couch. Punk is down here with me, snoring wildly. none of us have had dinner, and I'm not about to rouse them at midnight to do so. I'll just give them a little extra in the am. good to see that my body still deals with stress the same way - sleeping for days. 🙄 at least tomorrow will be fun with my parents coming down.

Good morning, industrious invisipeeps, attending events and keeping home fires burning. Welcome to Sunday. I hope your day includes a sundae and offers all a Sunday should: rest and relaxation, unless your prefer frolicking and feasting. I awoke an hour ago and I'm delighted to report that I actually feel better than I have in days now. Some coughing, but not bad. And my head is mostly clear. Whew. That is one nasty cold virus, the first I've come down with in years. And DH did not get it! Yesterday was rainy and overcast all day long. I didn't move much after I got Franklin the Dog down to the beach. We did go next door and give DD her birthday gifts and ice cream cake, which she loved. She is really excited about having an interview for a job next Wednesday. And it is good news. She's worked with children on the spectrum before she got her RN, so in many ways this is a good job for her. I hope it pans out. And I've been cautioning her to not lock onto this particular job, as this does mean that other jobs are out there for her, too, if this doesn't work out. Because yesterday was crappy weather and I didn't feel well, I'm posting a pic I took one year ago, of Great Egrets and a seagull that nested here in the cove:

I overdid it working in the yard yesterday, and I'm definitely feeling it this morning. I'm going to drink some coffee then will be back at it. It's supposed to be over 100, so I'll spend this afternoon inside.

I am going to get up and walk my dogs. It is almost 8 am. Mani-pedi at 1. I need to plug in my car and charge for a bit.
Haven’t decided yet what I will do today. Lots of stuff to do around the house.
