I made extra burgers over the weekend. Brought one in with a salad and made my favorite hamburger salad. Oh, and I really ticked off my coworker when I did. She looked at it and turned up her nose at it as she walked out to buy lunch - again. Yup, you go (keep going broke) girlfriend.

LOL!!!
My DH and I pack lunch every day - but today a coworker asked if he wanted to go out for lunch to get wings - he resisted!!! So proud of him. We have a bigger picture in mind - like a bigger savings.
Eating out of the pantry & freezer for a while. Will pick up some eggs, milk and fresh fruits & veggies at grocery - that is all.

Ohmom, I am used to it. She once referred to my leftovers as "dog food." Really now. The woman who had to "float" a check to cover her DH's emergency room visit? The woman who has a nonworking stove and fridge, so she has to eat out? The woman who rented a car to drive three states to buy purebred dogs (her car and DH's car both have bald tires). Sorry, I got carried away. Let me see if I can redeem my post.
I have meatballs and tomato sauce thawing at home; another meal from the weekend. DH will have some tonight with ravioli, and I will have my meatballs with a salad. Tomorrow, he has beef stew for lunch that I made last week. I have tuna from the pantry.

Aww thanksbobbysgirl, it's been a whirlwind year for sure! My income has increased 4x since last January.
I'm really, really looking forward to the profit share in March, I think it'll pay for my week in the Caribbean to visit my cousin. Of course saving a lot for taxes and to put aside savings.

I have to say, I'm a bit shocked at how some people can turn up their noses at leftovers. In my breakroom at work we all LOVE to see what everyone else has brought for lunch. Not that the Chinese place in the mall where I work doesn't have good food...but so many times our breakroom ends up smelling like "home" because we all bring yummy leftover homecooked meals!

I am finally eating the last of the meatballs for lunch today. I like them, but I've seen enough for awhile. . And coffeegirl, I kinda miss the days when I worked in a lunchroom with people who appreciated homemade food. Not that everyone did; some people still ordered out every day anyway. But most didn't. Believe me, when I leave here, I won't miss the snide remarks and insults a bit. The coworker thinks the boss owes it to her to take her out for lunch, and gets very insulted when he has other plans. She puts on the long, sad puppy face. . Oy vey.

I planted some basil seeds in an egg carton. I should hopefully have some basil plants in a couple of months! I'm planning my own container garden.

I got dressed this morning in one of my inexpensive tees and made it in to work to find several stains dead center! And yes, I looked at myself in the mirror and have no idea how I missed the stains. My first inclination was to run out as soon as the stores opened and buy a new tee as it does't look good for the department head to run around the office in a stained tee. But I remembered a lace scarf in my briefcase and managed to "artfully" drape it so the stains aren't visible. I'll have to replace the tee but thankfully, not today.

Later - Way to go! Knowing how to sew has been a life treasure for me. When first married and husband was in the service, I made my own clothes. Then I made my children's' clothes. Recently I made beautiful (if I do say so myself) draperies for my house with material I found on sale for $3.99 a yard. I even lined them so they are more energy efficient and hang beautifully. So you go girl! Keep on sewing.
Today, I bought 2 liter soft drinks that were buy 1 get 1 free. I had my car serviced (one must take care of ones investments). So I'll have plenty to drink and a car that will go when I want.

My co-workers are actually jealous when I bring in leftovers... (It makes the break room smell like actual food... and good too!)... Then they look at their fast food and frown.
I hit Costco to buy some items in bulk (Cause its cheaper for me to get **certain** items there). I bring a list so i pick up the few things I need and I don't get carried away. I then divide the purchases and freeze them so they don't go bad. (Its hard to get through all that cheese before it will go bad, so i half it and free some in tupperware and use the other half.)

Later - that is awesome about sewing.
Brought my lunch today (as always)! Salad, with cheese, hardboiled eggs and diced chicken (made extra last night) with Franks Hot Sauce, and Italian dressing. I love a spicy salad!
No plans for the weekend - which is good. So we will be playing outside in the snow, making cookies (haven't done this in a while) and playing with the gazillion toys the boys have! A nice no-spend weekend!!! I will be throwing a pot of veggie soup on too with whatever I have in the house. This will make great lunches for next week.

Later- I wish I knew how to sew! I would love to make draperies/pillows and other crafts.
ohmom- go your DH!! I wish my DH was as strong as yours to resist the coworkers! DH just can't say no to mexican food! But he's been doing better, slowly but surely. I also brought my lunch today, for the 4th day in a row. Another big one- ate breakfast/made coffee at home all week too! we usually hit the coffee shop on the way to work at least 2x/week.

I fixed penne pasta with chicken and vegetables in a light cream sauce for DH last night, and had some of the pasta and vegetables left over. Maybe a half-cup total. Not really enough for a main dish in itself, and of course, he ate all the chicken at dinner.
I did not want to throw out the leftovers, so I cut the noodles in half, chopped the veggies a little finer, and let the mixture cool down. Then I added two tablespoons of light mayo. He is having "leftover" macaroni salad with his sandwich for lunch today. Wonder if he will notice what it used to be?

I increased my 401k withholding to 9% today....inching my way up 1% at a time to the max! Once we start getting raises at work (3 year freeze, 2 years to go), I plan on participating in a 401a or something like that at work. (i max out a Roth IRA on my own, and I have to pay into the pension system at work... so this would be an eventual goal of mine after I pay for a year of service credit so I can max out my pension to retire at 55.)

I let a sales rep take me out for a free lunch. It saved money - don't know that it improved my life.

Flossed my teeth Exercised Put a roast and vegetables in the slow cooker before leaving for work. Said a prayer of Thanksgiving for my blessings. Snagged a free slice of pizza from work for lunch. Hugged my kids before putting them to bed.

We had a discussion today at work about using scarfs to reinvent existing outfits from our closets. I used to wear them often when I wore suits but had gotten away from them when I went to work in a more casual setting. Just started wearing them more this past year and love it.
