Anyone else watch murder/serial killer/psychopath documentaries while crafting? Willing to share any good episodes (don't have cable but do have netflix, amazon prime, hulu, and youtube!) Watched "Don't F**k With Cats" after a coworker recommended it, and often go down the youtube rabbit hole with autoplay (which sent me to "Ghosts of Highway 20" about a home state serial killer). Am I just weird (yes, but anyone else weird with me?) Socks I made for my mom last Christmas (she's the one who taught me): Current sock project (much longer than normal because I'm using a special sock yarn that has the top, heel, and toe all in the solid dark blue color): I think every pair of socks, every quilt, and every afghan has been made in part while watching something morbid.

I quit watching those kinds of shows because I get insomnia. Then I buy a book, When the Dead Speak. I haven't started reading yet. Very nice socks. I was in a yarn/knitting group while on vacation then I go to a similar one in my hometown. There are some yarn snobs in it.

The backstory to many, many of the socks that I knit is not pretty, not wholesome, not happy. I may look femme and Mennonite while I knit those socks but you have no idea what is going through my mind.

I like your socks!
Do you ever watch Snapped? No specific episode. I don't know if it's still on, but there used to be a show called Fear Thy Neighbor, that was pretty good. Is there a YouTube page for the ID channel? Maybe you'll find something on there.

I used to cross stitch while watching crime shows . Can’t do that now because of nerve damage in hands . But I still sew here and there . I love Snapped . I’ve been watching My Worst Nightmare , Fear Thy Neighbor , and Murder in the Heartland . On Netflix , Mindhunter is great . There was an article in Goodhousekeeping about 20 True Crime Documentaries on Netflix a few months back . Sorry , I don’t know how to include article/link on here .

I've seen a couple episodes of Snapped, I'll have to see if there is a good source for that (episodes I've seen must have been on youtube). I've seen something from the ID channel, not sure what, but I remember the logo in the corner... I'll have to type a title into youtube and let it just take me down the rabbit hole (I have seen some very interesting documentaries doing this on different subjects). I'm a very introverted, shy, quiet person. I've seen something that said "Wouldn't it be great if dating sites matched you by your watch list?" No, it would not. I'd probably be matched with a serial killer!

I don't knit, but I listen to crime podcasts when I do my exercise bike. Right now I'm listening to The Man in the Window- the Golden State Killer. Scarey!

Some track specific crimes (Up and Vanished's first season followed a cold case investigation of a woman who disappeared in Georgia), some look at different cases each week (Casefiles). Two are my favorites are My Favorite Murder, which is a comedy true crime podcast (sounds weird but it works) and one called Criminal, which isn't strictly just about murders but investigates a wide range of crimes (latest was about local miners murdering 20 plus mining scabs in the 20's). Listening to podcasts has the advantage of being able to listen when you're doing things out of earshot of the TV - I listen when cleaning the house, gardening, and driving my 30 minute commute. It makes all those boring tasks more tolerable. And your socks are beautiful - I'm knitting a baby afghan for my new nephew right now, but when not otherwise occupied I make fair isle style fingerless gloves, hats and scarfs for the homeless. As the hosts of My Favorite Murder would say, stay sexy and don't get murdered.

As the hosts of My Favorite Murder would say, stay sexy and don't get murdered. I've listened to a few when they've been recommended to me. I'll have to check the ones you mentioned out (along with the one Happy prose mentioned). I end up replaying them a few times because my mind tends to wander (habit from when my hearing was poor pre-surgery. It was hard to pay attention to just sound when I could only catch half the words, so I'd go off in my own head somewhere...) But, if they grab my attention, I do better now. Sometimes I'll play music on my phone or laptop, and carry a bluetooth speaker in my pocket while I go through different rooms, so a good podcast could work for that. I'm not good enough yet that I'm making things to give away (like donations, but if I get better, I can see how these projects would go quickly, and there are only so many I could keep!), but maybe someday. I love fingerless gloves (or ones that have a flap over the fingerless part so things still keep warm, but it's easy to let the fingers escape when needed).

I love fingerless gloves (or ones that have a flap over the fingerless part so things still keep warm, but it's easy to let the fingers escape when needed). The thing about podcasts is there's a wide range, both in style and quality. Some of the true crime ones are heavy on facts and can be boring, some can be very graphic. My Favorite Murder has a lot of adult language. So you may have to try a bunch of them to find the ones you like the best. I forgot to mention To Live and Die in LA, that was another good one. I think your socks look very well done and suitable for donation! You're right about the fingerless gloves, I make them with a flap that can be pulled down over the fingers or pulled back out of the way, so you don't have to keep taking your gloves on and off when you need to do something that requires bare fingers. Hopefully they find good homes.
