I would unfortunately bet that a substantial percentage of them don't look at it like that. They've probably had their kids already and don't care at all about other women's rights. It's a trade off. You're getting something out of supporting the system. Since you would never get one and shaking the cages means you're own security is threatened who gives a shit about other women? People will vote against rights for their group if it means they get something they deem more valuable in exchange. Like a Supreme Court judge or a massive border wall or being able to legally discriminate because you're a Christian with rights to your belief or trashing the environment in exchange for a few more dollars in your stock portfolio as a few examples.

It becomes a I would never have an abortion so I'm ok with you never having that option. Seriously several female relatives position. To the point of arguing "it'll be different if you ever get pregnant". Maybe, but maybe not and no woman should be shackled by another's choice. This.

Would it be fair to suggest that any man who thinks he deserves a say on whether a woman is allowed an abortion should be forced to give women a say on whether he be castrated? Seems fair. If rights to her own body are not sacrosanct for a woman, why should they be for a man?

Yes, but red state women deserve to have their rights respected too, even if their men don't think so. yes, and they have my sympathies. truly.
I hope they get out and vote against Trump this Fall, because their reproductive rights clearly depend on it.
It might be too late - at least to prevent immediate action. The makeup of the courts and especially the Supreme Court (even if the electoral college can be overcome) won't be changed in the next election, and Gerrymandering is still a factor for the house, and for statewide elections. It will take decades to "undo" the loss of rights if Roe is overturned.

I'm sorry.. you must have missed when Hobby Lobby was allowed to classify the morning after pill as an abortion pill... even though the science did not support their claims... Many of the people who are support overturning row v wade .. are also gunning to end invitro and birth control pills... I'm more into the biology end of the discussion. I don't follow the politics at all. Hobby lobby, the retailer, really ? Is that like Wal-Mart taking a stance on gun control ? Too funny.

No worst case hyperbole/scenario here. (bolded) Is it 1950 again ? It's 2020 this year. Quote; The morning-after pill (also known by the brand name Plan B), is emergency contraception that a woman takes to prevent pregnancy. It’s a form of birth control which is used after unprotected sex takes place. The traditional morning-after pill is effective if taken up to 5 days after having unprotected sex.
www.birthcontrol.com/options/morning-after-pill/That pill costs about 20 - 40 bucks a pop, so not an issue for middle and upper class women, but once again, poor women bear the brunt. Since poor women are more likely to require society to step in and provide assistance to raise their kids you would think the GOP members would be standing on street corners handing out free condoms and free morning after pills. I'm thinking the self responsibility belief of conservatives, overrides that behavior. (bolded) I retired right into the center of the bible belt 20 years ago, oddly, for me anyway, it's the women that are all up in arms about Roe v Wade. The guys barely pay attention to the subject. Could be why the representatives in congress from this area vote the way they do, even the males. These groups of women send piles of letters to their offices in mass mailings all the time. Trying to get ever increasing restrictions.

Not a big enough % to even register on the care factor. Considering how many pharmacists there are. You're cherry picking oddball stories. Doesn't make a point at all.

It's not just DT that we need to vote out....it's the whole bloomin state government here in Ga....or most of it! Maybe some day some of these women will understand...but not as long as they follow what these preachers tell them. The number of pharmacists in the country doesn't have anything to do with how many are available in certain areas. Some areas of the country only have one for over 100 miles all around...that's not their say if they want to have that profession. Many women in certain areas of the country have been brain-washed since birth...by both their male relatives and their religions. Some will see the light, others never will...and it's likely one of the reasons more & more youth are leaving religion.

Doesn't the general population in GA vote in their own representatives, senate, governor ?

Not a big enough % to even register on the care factor. Considering how many pharmacists there are. You're cherry picking oddball stories. Doesn't make a point at all. It's big enough if you live in the Bible Belt. You can find yourself going from pharmacy to pharmacy to pharmacy to pharmacy until it's too late to take the morning after pill. Noesen's case is not an isolated incident. Since 2004, pharmacist refusals have made headlines across the country—and have often spurred local governments into action. In Denton, Texas, three pharmacists were fired from Eckerd after refusing to fill an emergency contraception prescription for a rape victim. Gene Herr told the Associated Press that he "went in the back room and briefly prayed about it" and decided that he could not in good conscience provide the pills, which he believes can cause an abortion. Similar refusals have been reported in Georgia, Alabama, New Hampshire, Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Polls show that pharmacists want to be treated like true health care professionals, not automated pill dispensers. More than two-thirds of them want freedom to refuse to fill prescriptions, Glenn Kessler of HCD Research told CT. www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/august/31.44.html

Yeah, it's been brewing in Pharmacy for a while. I remember having a discussion about it with my childhood bff, who was a pharmacist. This was a good 20-25 years ago.

If you choose a profession, be prepared to fulfill all the obligations of that profession. If your religious beliefs conflict with that, do your job anyway. If you cannot do that, choose another profession. One is always allowed to subvert their own desires in deference to their obligations to others. The reverse is not always the case.

How many mail carriers refused to deliver Christmas cards because they aren't Christian? How many servers refuse to serve a ham sandwich because their religion forbids them to eat ham? But these "Christian" pharmacists, who don't even know the reason a prescription was prescribed, refuse to fill it. And one is too many.

Dec 2019 recent enough? www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/woman-s-doctor-prescribed-morning-after-pill-pharmacists-refused-fill-n1101586A Minnesota woman is suing a former local pharmacist and CVS for allegedly refusing to fill her prescription for a morning-after pill. Andrea Anderson filed the suit on Monday in Aitkin County District Court claiming she was denied the drug ella because of a pharmacist's beliefs and was then lied to and misled when she tried to get the medication at another location. On Jan. 21, 2019, Anderson, a mother of five, called her doctor and had a prescription for an emergency contraceptive sent to the Thrifty White Pharmacy in McGregor. But she was told by the pharmacist "that he would be unable to fill her prescription," the complaint states. The pharmacist, George Badeaux, said he could not give her the medication due to "personal reasons" and his "beliefs," and he also tried to discourage her from trying to obtain the drug at another store."He did not clarify what his beliefs were or why they interfered with his ability to perform his job as a medical professional," according to the complaint. Ella is an emergency contraceptive that is to be taken as soon as possible or within five days of unprotected intercourse or a known contraceptive failure, according to a FDA data sheet. Knowing that such medications work best the sooner they are taken, Anderson called a CVS in Aitkin to try and have the prescription filled and was told that the store did not stock the drug. The CVS pharmacist also told Anderson that she had called a nearby Walgreens but that it also did not have it in stock. Anderson, however, called the Walgreens herself and was told that it did have ella in stock and could fill the prescription. She had to drive more than 50 miles in a snowstorm the following day to obtain the medication, according to the suit.

I hope she gets her judgement against the pharmacist ...... and whoever hired him. He needs to be in a different profession so his 'personal reasons' won't interfere with his job performance.
Not acceptable behavior.

A fetus is not a baby. Your straw man doesn't work here. (and for a majority it's not even a fetus, just an embryo...)
I'll laugh and ignore the idea that most people who are interested in 'fetus rights' are at all interested in 'baby rights'... because they mostly just want to have 'parent rights' to do whatever the fuck they want to the child after it is born... or lock it in a cage, or let it go without food or health care... etc ... If you want a real example of hypocrisy.

I'm trying to remember to say embryo rights as well as fetus rights... because 2/3 of all abortions are before 8 weeks... so not even a fetus.
