I’m sick, and I want to whine but no one cares. I’m stuck between a flu and a cold/sinus infection. I got my flu shot this year, so I think that might be the only thing keeping me from being full-on sick. Instead I’m in between with a horrible sore throat, plugged up sinus cavities, and extreme tiredness.
Aspirin and decongestants help, but I’m still in zombie mode. Just looking for some sympathy...😞

I am CONVINCED BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT men's colds are far more uncomfortable than a woman going through a natural birth of twins who each weigh 12 pounds.

I do excellent chicken and turkey stock; in fact, I have some frozen I can send to you. I am just waiting for it to get cold enough again here to thaw it and enjoy a bowl. Feel better soon. Whine all you want. Being sick really sucks.

So yesterday was the worst Christmas ever. Family came over and I had to sequester myself to the master suite. Spent most of the day in crazy amounts of pain and with severe diarrhea with some vomiting mixed in just for fun. I have no idea what this evil illness has morphed into, but I hope it ends soon.
On the plus side, I’m down seven pounds 🙂

I'm so sorry you are sick and hope you feel better soon. You may want to go to the doctor at this point, or call one of those cell phone doctors or your nursing hotline if you don't want to leave the house.

Heck, I go to the doc, get shots, whatever else I need and get over it. I do not suffer well.

Hope you feel better VERY soon. Something similar has been going around down here. It's a good mimic of the flu, complete with feeling queasy and vomiting, but it's not the flu.

Heading to the doc this afternoon, didn’t want to use urgent care in a holiday, we’ll see what she says. I had my flu shot this year and this is a whole new kind of evil...

My understanding is that the flu shot doesn't combat the "stomach flu". The flu virus and the stomach virus are different things.

It's my understanding that this year's flu shot doesn't cover the worse of the flu that is happening here. It's supposed to help make it not so bad, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that!

My DD said there have been 3 deaths from the flu in a sparsely populated county in ND this Christmas season.
I hope you get better soon, ((((Tractor)))).
Lecture time. Replace your electrolytes and probiotics. Cold cloth on your head. Vaseline on your chapped lips.

One year I made extra sure i got the shot, and it was a year where they got the wrong formula (or whatever). I got the flu. I was pregnant. It was miserable. I couldn't take any over the counter medicine. I used all my sick time and some of my vacation time long before I hit maternity leave. On the plus side, my kid was born super immune. He didn't miss a single day of daycare or school until 6th grade.

Dr said I have both the viral form of a sinus infection and the stomach flu. Lucky me, nothing I can do but ride it out. So far so good, just want it gone.
Spent a solid 9 hours last night coughing, whole body is extra sore. Have different meds, hope to sleep tonight.

Yuck! This does not sound like a good time, at all! Please don't breathe, facing west, I don't want to catch it. (Truthfully, I don't know if that's the correct direction, or not. So continue breathing as needed. Haha)
Get well SOON!

There's no such thing as "stomach flu". Your stomach can't catch the flu. What you have is gastroenteritis. Take your meds and try to stay hydrated.

A nickname that would be easier to remember, pronounce and talk about. And it really should be called Gastroexitus, because there is a lot of exiting, and no entering. 😝

But that wouldn't be proper would it That isn't specific enough. My kid's school won't take "sick". I kinda want to question them about HIPPA rights. Do they keep those records appropriately? I guess they want to know in case of an epidemic - like the whooping cough that went through the school, of which they informed us in multiple communications. You may also want an easier name if you calling all the family that was over yesterday to warn them that you may have infected them. Or, maybe your work prefers at least a little info - for the same reasons as the school. Or, if you are looking for advice on how to avoid it, or treat it. It having a name besides "that barfing thing" would really help.

Spent a solid 9 hours last night coughing, whole body is extra sore. Have different meds, hope to sleep tonight. I was once on vacation in Hong Kong and caught a head cold. Had multiple flights and destinations on the way back home to JFK airport. During one of the landings, no chewing gum or yawning could make my ears pop to relieve the pressure. It took several hours after landing in LAX did my ears finally pop. Painful. About a day or two after getting home, and because of flying with a cold and the rising and falling of air pressure in the aircraft, I ended up with a wicked sinus infection. The throbbing was so bad I had to tie a bathrobe belt tight around the upper part of my head to even out the pain. Went to the doc's and got a prescription. Several days later felt better and saw stuff coming out of my sinus cavities I never want to see again.

If you're ever sick, need an electrolyte replacement, and can't get to the store to buy Gatorade, you can make your own. It's just water with sugar, a little salt and baking soda. It's what Doctors Without Borders use. They don't fly planeloads of Gatorade into Africa.
