The cursor disappeared. Scrolled up, down, right, left. No matter what I do I can't get it to come back. And yes I've tried turning it off and back on again. Tried the control/alt/delete. Nothing.
When I turn it off and back on, the little box to type in my password appears with the cursor, but as soon as I hit enter the last screen I used shows up but without the cursor.
Keep in mind that I'm functionally illiterate where anything regarding computers is concerned.
How do I fix it?

Somehow some way something clicked and it righted itself. Thank all that is holy because SIL works until 8 tonight.

on my old one used to pull the battery out then it would work once I put it back it, reset I guess. This one doesn't have it, cheap one. Most of the time its fine, so far.

Are you backing up regularly? You should.
Sometimes when stuff like that happens it's a sign that the computer is going bad, and sometimes Stuff Happens and it's fine again for years. I don't pretend to understand.
My laptop also has a built-in battery so I can't pull it to re-boot, but you can also unplug it and let it run down till the battery is dead, then plug it in again. That takes forever, of course, and in the meantime you're chewing your nails and worrying about whether or not it will re-boot, but it's worth a try.

I used to do IT support for a living and was always partial to Dell laptops.
I've since converted to be a complete and 100% Chromebook lover. I LOVE mine and have purchased a backup for when this one dies.
My cheap Acer Chromebook from WalMart boots up in less than a minute and is faster than any expensive laptop I have ever owned. They don't come loaded with crap that you don't need that simply slow things down and they don't continually require OS upgrades.
