Trump's Syria policy now appears to be — quite literally — 'blood for oil' Can allies trust an administration that boasts of using military power to pillage other nations' resources? Piracy as policy What made this performance especially jaw-dropping was his suggestion that America should have — and by extension could have — pillaged the oil resources of other nations. "We've taken the oil. I've taken the oil. We should have done it in other locations where we were. I can name four of them right now," said Trump. (He did not name the other countries.) It all leaves allies pondering some uncomfortable questions. What does this mean for the future? And how willing should any country be to support an America that muses openly — perhaps illegitimately — about stealing the resources of other nations? www.cbc.ca/news/politics/donald-trump-syria-oil-kurdish-turkey-trudeau-1.5387900

Let’s see how is that gonna make some “patriots” feel about the US presence in the Middle East! I wonder if the line will still be “spreading democracy and freedom”.

I visited Canada a few times. Very nice country. Do you know they have some of our lobster? And maple trees.... they are taking our maple syrup! Yup, we need to get our lobster and our maple back,. And, Greenland. We really should buy that from Iceland, or Denland, or whoever. It should be ours, because it is green, and we have green, and, oh hell, we should just take it, after we get our lobsters! So, then Rick Perry was telling me that they have oil down there in Mexico, probably leaked out down under the Alamo and rolled downhill into Mexico, I'm guessing. And so, it is really ours- or it should be. And if the cartels are terrorists, well, you see where I am going. We just have to keep the damn Mexicans out once we go in, that is all. and it is a tricky problem. One we have very smart people working on. And NYC. There are lots of liberals there that we should send back to France. Or Ukraine, wherever it is they came from. We don't need to be supporting them here. So really, that island should be ours. After all, it is our statue, you know, the liberty thing. I've seen it. Yup, it's there. Hey!!! That's a great plan!!!

Economic Colonialism, particularly in the Western Hemisphere, has long been a part of our foreign policy.
