Thank you. My favourite thing about Canada is the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland, with only 10,000 inhabitants, sheltering 6,000 of you after 9/11. They ran themselves ragged to provide food, shelter, clean clothes, entertainment, beds, and even birthday parties for the stranded kids. They were ready to drop but kept going. That's Canadian hospitality. It's what we do for our neighbours. I was out for a couple hours but as I started reading new posts I was thinking, "I sure hope someone mentioned Gander. That was incredible." (It would have been nice if an American poster had acknowledged it first, but be assured I would have if you hadn't.) Something I didn't know....after 9/11 10,000 Americans ran to Canada...Gander , in panic...? Expecting what? More planes..nuclear armed missals , mad cow disease...{sheesh} I wonder if they knew America lost 4800 Americans on D day..killed, over 60,000 dead Battle of the Bulge...32,000 dead Korean War, 58,000 dead in Nam and we kind of survived... I wonder if they felt like idiots when they came back or did they stay up North?

No doubt Trump is a narcissistic baby. I am pointing out the US is still nothing to laugh at. I encourage you to speak to people who migrated to the US about US. They have nothing but great things to say about this land of opportunity. That has been my experience lately. We can all agree Trump’s behavior is childish and crude. Just not understanding the constant bashing of what the US isn’t doing right. Also what is up with all the Canadians posting all day about US politics? It’s interesting I guess but it seems borderline obsessive. Call me open-minded, but I like hearing what other countries think of us, straight from them and not the media. So, I appreciate them taking the time to post on here about what they think of US politics.

“Where your attention goes energy flows”. I have go enjoy the day. Wish you all the best. Hope you’re able to focus on positive aspects of the US too. Bless your heart... southern version Oh no! Bless YOUR heart. You need it! Lots of negative energy here. It’s very sickening. I come here infrequently because of it. Bless YOUR heart!

I wonder if they felt like idiots when they came back or did they stay up North? No, mon ami. 38 planes headed to the USA were diverted to Gander right after the attacks. Operation Yellow Ribbon (French: Opération ruban jaune) was commenced by Canada to handle the diversion of civilian airline flights in response to the September 11 attacks in 2001 on the United States. Canada's goal was to ensure that potentially destructive air traffic be removed from United States airspace as quickly as possible, and away from potential U.S. targets, and instead place these aircraft on the ground in Canada, at military and civilian airports in the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and British Columbia (and also several in New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec) where any destructive potential could be better contained and neutralized. None of the aircraft proved to be a threat, and Canada and Canadians hosted thousands of passengers stranded in Canada until U.S. airspace was reopened. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Yellow_Ribbon

The admin of the wealthiest country in the world, is moving to cut hundreds of thousands of people off food aid. Just in time for Christmas. But tell me again how we are bestest. This is sad. I'm not sure where I saw it, but apparently food pantries give out about a third of what food stamps do in the US. There is not a big enough food pantry system to cover the need.

Some probably think that way and some probably don't. You don't talk for everyone, especially from other countries, let them speak.

In regards to that ad ^ fear mongering and projecting is not productive. Majority of US can see right through this. Big waste of time and resources. THIS is why our political system is broke. That is why he was elected. People were not happy with how our government was working. Why can’t you see this?

So those hard truths and laugh alouds really got to you, to the point you considered it fear mongering? This probably is not a good place for you. You need a safe space.

In some people's rather feverish dreams the answer is yes.

That is why he was elected. People were not happy with how our government was working. Why can’t you see this? To those of us who don't see Trump as a conservative savior, that ad isn't fear mongering. Sure its not the best showing how world leaders are mocking him, most people who won't vote Trump are probably already aware of that. Trump was elected due to GOP gerry-mandering and as someone astutely pointed out, Hillary's lack of campaigning in Wisconsin and a couple other states. Now to say fear-mongering and projecting aren't productive, seems laughable given pretty much most of what Trump does is fear monger and project his thoughts and fears onto others. So I wonder, do you really see through this, or do you only notice it when someone you don't like does it? I recommend reading the Fifth Risk. It put actual RL shape to my fears about how Trump is destroying federal agencies. He is dangerous. I used to get my Mom to talk less smack about W, and rein it in. If she were alive, I'm not sure I could do that if she talked smack about Trump.

I do believe that Trump is not highly respected around the world. I also believe that the USA is nearing a turning point. China has had a well executed plan to be the new world leader, and us losing face in front of the rest of the world will really help them out. All they need to do now is put military troops every place we want to pull out of, and we will lose our stronghold of power. I'm okay with the balancing of power. But I believe we will need to fundamentally change the way we approach the rest of the world, as equals. That transition can be done well, with great leadership, or it can be a train wreck, which we will have to dig out of. I don't know who is the great leader that can take us there. I definitely know it is not Trump. But I don't have faith that Joe will run out there and be amazing, especially with how many public gaffes he has had on the campaign trail. He will be better than Trump.

You do know that trump will have no use for you or others who voted for him should he be reelected in 2020, yes? trump has only used you and other trumpers to feed his already over inflated ego and tame his inferiority complex. What trump might do if reelected may be 100% counter to what you wanted him to do by electing him. trump won't need you any more. And you will have been used and tossed aside. Be careful what you wish for.
