I have most of my Christmas shopping done, except for my wife. I need suggestions on what I should get her,
Little background, She is quite active, spend a lot of time at the Senior Center, she is 70, we have been married for 53 years. She has tons of clothes, makes her own jewelry, Kinda hard to buy for, But,, I was thinking about a new, super duper hi powered drill, in bright yellow,, she could store it in my work shop!! Suggestion,, price range, a couple of bucks to a couple of thousand..

If it were me I would love the drill kit. DH#1 would have gotten it for me and I would allow him to USE it once in a while. DH#2 is more the computer nerd so I'm the handyman around the house. DH#2 wanted/needed a new drill so I got one for him several years ago. He has 3 drills in the garage now and none of them work. .................... And he won't get RID of them. He put the new one away and last night we finally found it. After a lot of head scratching I decided to get DH a model kit to build. He spends too much time in front of computer or in front of TV watching Jerry Springer and Maury. Maybe this will activate his brain and fingers again ........ fingers crossed Get a nice wall calendar for her.

What a kind husband you are! One suggestion is to pick a red drill rather than yellow to tie in with the Christmas season or go for basic black. If you really think she would prefer yellow, you can't stop at just one tool... you need at least three for a matching set. So, get her a belt grinder and a miter saw. I would avoid a nail gun, however. She may want to use it immediately upon opening.

I was joking about the drill. there are plenty of them around if she wants one. Tools make me money! I make the joke that my name is Tim Taylor, I used to have a TV show call Tool Time,, I do in fact own every Binford tool ever manufactured!!
I am going to start down sizing a little, I asked one son what did he want when I start doing so,, He said the whole garage!!

I was gonna say - great idea !!! I love it when my husband and boys get me power tools . How about a gift card to her favorite craft store where she buys her jewelry makings .

Does she like to be pampered? I always like gifts of massage or facials, etc.

You’ve been married over 50 years and you are asking strangers on a forum for gift ideas? Why not ask her? This is harsh. I have been married 27 years and I often don't have a clue what to get DH. We have plenty of income, so we buy what we need. We can be somewhat tight with our $$, so sometimes we want something but don't pull the trigger. We bought new appliances last year, but took delivery on only the microwave and cancelled the rest. DH and I discussed buying them again last week, but decided to wait.
I bought myself a new TV for the bedroom on Cyber Monday, and I also bought an I-pad. I don't think it is the one I really want (want what DD has with a keyboard which is an I-Pad 11 Pro), but DH picked it up, and he was talking about getting his generation 2 or so I-pad working again - I think he is going to take the one I bought...but I don't have anything he does not know about. I also bought a soda stream for him- it is being delivered to his office, he told me yesterday that our Son won't let him open any boxes delivered to the office b/c they could be Christmas Gifts. I told him that was true.

I'm in the same boat. Granted, I've only been with my guy for four years, but it was no different when I was with my ex for 26 years. I have money and I buy what I want/need. I am very hard to shop for. I really care about experiences over stuff, so a week's vacation to Europe would be welcome! I actually got BF a week's vacation last year because a week with me is definitely a gift

OC ......... DH and I are giving each other a dinner and show at Medieval Times for the weekend between Christmas and NY. We are taking good friends with us.
DD and SIL are taking us to the citrus farm in QC for fruit picking and spending the day together. It's going to be fun.
At our age, it's experiences and memories ............

Pretty much everything I bought he knows about. He's horrible about replacing his clothing so most of what he got is clothes he asked for.

Of course...then again, I'm divorced so you probably don't want to take marriage advice from me! But I'm not married now so if I pay for a vacation for him or vice versa, it isn't family money paying for it.

I often don't have a clue,, There is enough money that unless it is real expensive, she has already bought it if she wanted it. But I think that I have it from a couple of minutes ago, She need a new computer, the one she is using now she got when her mother passed away six years ago, it was old then, and believe me, mom would have not over spent on a computer!! She has been complaining about it. Now back to the board Judge and Jury,, Do you think that will work? Good thing she never looks here!

I think a new computer, but you may want to take her with you to pick out what she wants. That assumes she is tech savvy and would know what to pick?

Dance lessons you take together. Ballroom, square dancing, etc. I second some sort of date activities. If not dancing, maybe tickets to a concert, play, comedy show, festival, etc...

Every year , I get DH tickets to some show or concert . We always take another couple along as well . The hubby of the other couple loves it cuz his wife is a Jehovah’s Witness and doesn’t celebrate , so always jokes “ What Christmas present did you get me this year ?” We usually make a night of it and go out to dinner . Sometimes , it’s a weekend trip . Lots of fun and much better than buying stuff that we don’t need .

As DH and I have gotten older, there aren't a lot of things we want that we don't just buy during the rest of the year. So we like gifts for things we can do rather than stuff that will just gather dust. This year, DH is getting KISS tickets. Are you in an area with theater/music venues nearby?
