Make sure you have a plan for LTC. A prenup does not protect your assets from Medicaid. Even if they are strictly ours like retirement accounts. This is my biggest concern abut remarrying. I can provide for my own LTC but if I marry someone planning to rely on Medicaid my assets get counted, too. The old men are courting the young gold diggers. I saw that everywhere on on-line dating. Guys my age (and who knew if they were telling the truth about that) looking for women 10-15 years younger. I suppose the ones who are well-fixed financially can get them. At age 66, that would mean I could get myself an 80-year old. No, thanks.

I'm not even a senior woman (I'm 46) and this is my mindset. I was married 19 years, divorced for 5 now, and I can't see ever getting married again. I earn my own money, do what I want when I want, and have an "arrangement" who comes over once or twice a week and then gets the Hell out when we're done Maybe I'll change my mind down the road, but for right now, this is exactly the extent of a relationship I want.

My GFs mother and her friend got married in their mid 70s. They were going to travel but both ended up with illnesses and passed away. The down side was he husband's family took all the family heirlooms to a farm building. My GF was very sentimental so that hit her even harder.
