Well, then, tell them you want a lamb or a piglet or a calf from Heifer International or a donation to your local food pantry or payoff some single mother’s Christmas layaway at Walmart. 🙂

Weighted blankets sound cozy.
This is like when people ask you to help name their pets. I'm going to be thinking about it constantly for the next few days and coming back to pepper you with more suggestions, but you will inevitably come up with something all on your own.
Wine decanter, Clarisonic, Sonicare, your weight in chocolate, a puppy, skinny pigs, a knit Weasley sweater.

I probably need to find a new hobby too - but frankly I have no idea what to start. Our public school system runs a rec department. There's classes there for adults, from fitness to needlework to painting and dance. They also do day trips. The technical college in our town also has ton of enrichment courses... And the continuing education arm of the four year college also has some opportunities.. Anyway, these are good places for cheap introduction to figure out if you like something or not.

All that I could come up with was Heifer donations and weighted blankets. So I stayed silent until I clicked on the second page. Then they were both there, one right after the other. Twas weird, or possibly not weird at all -- just advertising.
Despite having both of these items on my own Christmas list, I have to admit that neither is particularly exciting. They might even be examples of the quintessential meh gift. About the only good thing that I can say about them is that one does not clutter and the other can be easily discarded.
I'm.also miffed as hell that you've already worked your way through Fitbits and tabletop hydroponics. Those were on my Christmas list last year.
Generally, at this time of year, all that I really want is an abundance of long underwear and I don't want to wait until Christmas to get it. I'm no help at all. I just drawing the same blanks.

In the spirit of the other thread, what does Oprah say you should get?

I have asked for a couple of game cameras and a new phone.
I want the cameras to see what critters we have in our lawn but also for security. And I hate to but need to upgrade to a newer phone, they are used for so much and mine is an old very workable flip phone. May let DD have it since its prepaid and cheap.
Hubs I have no idea nor anyone else. DD got her one of the cute lamps with the flickering candle in it. Also got her 2 pair of new pants likely won't be for Christmas. Maybe some new pajamas, nobody really needs anything. Unlike when growing up we had to wait for birthdays and Christmas for big things, we just buy what we need anymore.
Grandma will be clothes, I could get her other things but she would just lose them, so basically clothing. I need to put her name in everything, need to remember that.

I've tried a weighted blanket on the upper and lower end of what the range should be for my weight and they both were too heavy. Maybe because I'm tall so the weight is spread out? I've debated a lighter one. Already have the first 3 (lol I swear I just don't spend money on everything). Too lazy for an animal, dog sitting my friend's dog is enough for me! So two things not mentioned here but somehow you guys made me think of - a new sound machine (mines getting too temperamental on sound level) and a world map I can put pins in (but I don't want those scratch maps that are popular right now).

I was just asked a few weeks ago and went blank at that time. Since than here is what I came up with --
A tune up for my bike new tires for my car -- or a gift card from the local tire place for part of the amount.
How about a gift card for books on your kindle?

This is going to sound totally boring, but u drew ear and socks. The only problem with this trite gift is that the underwear is from Duluth and the socks are from Bombas.
Both cost waaaay more per item than I have ever paid, but I have turned into a believer.

I was hoping they were the new pot belly pig and I could convince dh and the kids that we need one for our (sub)urban homestead. But no to small rodents.

Do you have a Roomba? Target has one on Black Friday for $199. I may try to buy it for myself.

There are two things that just have no value to me. One's a bread machine. I got one when they first came out, and it was defective. Took it back and got another one. Defective. Pfffft. My bread recipe is easy, requires no kneading, turns out perfectly every time. Scratch bread machine.
The other is a Roomba. I had a client who had a Roomba. That damned thing would decide to take off all on its own. If it got hung up on something, it would just whir and whine and stay put but not quit running. It was set to run at times when I wasn't there and shouldn't have gotten in my way, but I think it resented me and cranked up and took off just for meanness. When I'd fetch the stupid thing, I'd turn it off and put it back on its dock but not quite so that it wouldn't start running again.
If I happened to be working upstairs when it decided to make a few laps around the downstairs, it would get stymied by a rug or a chair leg or a box or whatever, and make the most gawdawful racket until I got downstairs and shut it up.
If you have bare floors, maybe, but remember this: Roomba is round. Corners are square. Every week I'd go to the client's house and could see the path Roomba made around corners. A Swiffer is cheaper, you can see what you've dusted, and it doesn't make noise.
Lord! I hated that thing and finally told the client that either Roomba had to go or I did. Roomba got disconnected and relegated to the basement. Yay.

Y'all go ahead with your Roombas. I have a mental picture of the former client's Roomba creating havoc in their basement, going round and round like the MTA. Just wait until that thing decides it's time to vacuum while you're watching something riveting on TV or gets stuck on something and won't move or shut up until you get up and make it move and/or shut up.

I told my sister I want an Instant pot. I'm getting an Instant pot. I'd love a $200 gift card to the bookstore. Oh the fun I could have!

empress of self-improvement, funny about the bookstore. Green Hornet couldn't pass a bookstore and couldn't leave one without a crapton of books. We'd go to the city maybe four times a year to lay in supplies and forage for food but always had to go to B&N first. I'd threaten to arm him with cookies so he could leave a trail of cookie crumbs in order for me to find him before Sam's Club closed so we could get groceries. He used to say the only thing better than owning a bookstore would be having a job in a library. One day there was a job posting in the local newspaper for a library director, and he applied for it even though he was already retired, and it was a red-letter day when he got it! His favorite shirt said "So many books, so little time."

I thought about getting my MLS and working at the library but that's as far as I got with that thought.

I mean, really, how long does it take to whip a Swiffer around a room? Means you have to move around with it, but you have to move around with Roomba, too, because it's guarandamteed to get hung up on something and need to be rescued. Set it up so that it Roombas while you're at work and come home to find the stupid thing trying to get up over the edge of an area rug and still humming along while it's stuck...if it doesn't run down the battery before you get home. Can you tell that I'm not a fan?

IMHO, roombas are awesome for people who aren't tidy (me). Yes sweeping or vacuuming is more efficient and effective, but there is a reason I'm looking for a robot to do it for me. That reason is that it is better than nothing. Also the roomba goes under the futon in the office. That level of effort is reserved for deep cleaning.

Yeah, I'd love a roomba for the in between stuff. I used to dust and vacuum twice a day (3dogs, 5 cats - the house was still never clean), now I barely run it weekly upstairs and downstairs is shameful.
I'd be tempted to get my parents and my sister one at that price.

My Roomba is my lazy way of cleaning cat hair.
It doesn't get everything but it's the easiest way for me to stay on top of the cat hair.
My cleaning lady says if it wasn't for cat hair and litter, I wouldn't need her. She is wrong about that.

I just told DH to look for a replacement Roomba during black fri sales. Ours is 3 yrs old and starting to slow down. We'll keep using it in the basement. It doesn't clean perfectly but it does clean way more often than I do. Plus, the kids know it will eat things left on the floor - that's priceless!

We used it all the time before the start of the kitchen remodel, now there’s no place to plug it in. Once we finish the remodel, I’ll find some place to plug it in. The things I want for Christmas: Good chocolate A rug for the dining room More Dept 56 Snow Village houses Cleaning help to have all the windows cleaned A new LR chair. Out recliner is on its last leg
