Trump changes primary residence to FloridaPresident Trump changed his primary residence from Manhattan to Palm Beach, Fla., according to documents filed with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court that were reviewed by The New York Times. Both the president and Melania Trump last month filed a “declaration of domicile” saying their Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach will be their permanent residence. “If I maintain another place or places of abode in some other state or states, I hereby declare that my above-described residence and abode in the State of Florida constitutes my predominant and principal home, and I intend to continue it permanently as such,” reads the document that Trump filed. “I formerly resided at 721 Fifth Avenue,” the document says, referring to Trump Tower in Manhattan. Another document lists his other residences as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the address for the White House, and his private golf club in Bedminster, N.J. A person close to the president told The Times that Trump’s decision to change his primary residence was largely for tax purposes. The person also cited Trump’s frustration with the Manhattan district attorney’s lawsuit seeking his tax returns. Full story here: Trump changes primary residence to Florida

Let's hope he forgets to register to vote in Fl...or he can't find his polling place!
There is no state income tax in Fl....but won't he still owe state taxes on any $$ made in NY?

I thought he didn't pay taxes? That's what he said during the debate with Clinton.
Actually, I'm surprised he hasn't declared Florida his domicile previously due to tax reasons. Maybe he isn't that smart.

Taxes makes more sense. I originally thought he was so worried Florida was going to be so close in the 2020 vote he could get a bunch of his lackeys to "move" and locked down a victory there. 😝

He knows darn well he has a problem with billionaires moving out in the state leaving the middle class to pick up the difference on tax revenue. One good thing for the state though, Trump will lose his mortgage deduction as well as his over 65 age deduction on his condo increasing his taxes he has to pay....

Not just New York state having that problem. I have no regrets being one of the many leaving Illinois back in 2000 Quote; Th e problem
Illinois residents are fleeing the state. When people leave, they take their purchasing power, entrepreneurial activity and taxable income with them. For more than 15 years, residents have left Illinois at a rate of one person every 10 minutes.
Recent data from the Internal Revenue Service shows that, in 2009, Illinois netted a loss of people to 43 states, including each of its neighbors – Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Iowa. Over the course of the entire year, the state saw a net of 40,000 people leave Illinois for another state.
The data reflects a continuation of a trend of out-migration from Illinois that has lasted more than a decade. Between 1995 and 2009, the state lost on a net basis more than 806,000 people to out-migration.
When people leave, they take their income and their talent with them. In 2009 alone, Illinois lost residents who took with them a net of $1.5 billion in taxable income. From 1995 to 2009, Illinois lost out on a net of $26 billion in taxable income to out-migration.www.illinoispolicy.org/reports/still-leaving-illinois-an-exodus-of-people-and-money/

Trump tweeted he moved due to taxes and 'they weren't nice to him in NY.'
Such a giant baby. If you don't pander to the baby, he cries and goes home. Goes home ? I'm not sure which words you're struggling with.
I'm comparing Trump to a whining toddler. Sometimes, toddlers get angry when they play with other toddlers. Sometimes, when they get angry, one of them will pick up their toys and stomp all the way home, crying as he goes.
Imagine, now, Trump taking his golf clubs and his trophy wife and stomping down to his home at Mar A Lago, crying all the way - just like an angry toddler. Isn't that a funny image?
What makes it extra funny, to me, is how the worst insult Trump can think to call anyone is a 'whiny baby.' Imagine how furious he would be at me, if he heard me call him a whiny baby?
Did I make that clear enough?

Business taxes as long as any of his businesses are headquartered there. Do they have to be based there? Now businesses on the internet have to pay state sales taxes, and actors, singers, professional sports figures now have to pay income tax to many states when they are on the road performing their work gig in the state whether they live their or not. I am not sure if NY state does this or not. Who was that businessman from several years back who had a home in NJ and another one in NY and he kept a meticulous diary that showed exactly where he spent each night, because in order to claim you were a resident of NJ and not NY you had to document that you spent x number of days per year at your home in NJ? I remember he would go to a party in NYC then, rather than go to his NYC home nearby, he'd drive all the way over to his NJ house so he could show he slept in NJ.
Did something similar on his purchases, NY had some kind of fine art tax for art purchases, he would buy things, have them delivered to his NJ home and then hire someone to drive it over to his NYC home.
He had a really great tax lawyer. It was pretty funny. Can't remember who it was now...

I am wondering where he will decide to put his library in..I would have thought New York ..city...State one of the finer University's...get best attendance.. If only a one term...still one term Presidential libraries are much in play, depending on the former President. Carter is a scholar...many, many books..large popular following. I don't see Trump as a scholar....possible Disneyland..?

I left Illinois for good in 1985 & no regrets...LOTS of things were the cause...weather was a big one but so was some of the malarkey with power companies. Don't remember all the particulars now, but taxes were never considered a problem at that point. Still have many, many family there and all are doing fine...in/around central Ill.
