Finally ordered a digital antenna after seeing it mentioned in other threads and now in this one. $20, delivered the next day and it found over 50 channels most importantly CBS and ABC which I don't get live with sling and will give me more live sporting events. OK, I think I may need to buy one of these!

So, we still have cable (comcast) since that is really the only available high speed internet. We were able to get a deal on a package for a couple of years, but then we will likely look at trying something else if internet is available another way. They really upcharge for internet only. I had looked at some of the digital antennas, but its only predicting that we would get 7 channels, although it does cover the basic networks. Although I'm not sure how accurate and up to date it is. They have a channel listed that isn't currently broadcasting. I live right next to the station... Now that its stopped broadcasting I can get more radio channels.
Speaking of comcast, does anyone have a package that includes Netflix? If so, is it seamless to roll your existing netflix into comcast? I'm sure its not to remove it, but that is a while away at this point.

I found that, too- before I switched to Google Fiber I called Comcast, which was then my provider, and asked about an Internet-only cost. It was far higher than Google Fiber with slower speeds. I doubt you'll find a package from any traditional cable provider that includes Netflix, but I got Netflix before I switched to Google Fiber and it was pretty seamless to switch back and forth between Comcast programming and Netflix. I'd see no advantage to having it tied into a Comcast package unless you got a big discount.

Yeah, I don't see any reason to bundle Netflix with cable. Netflix is already cheap. I doubt it could get much cheaper, and it would just tie you to the cable company, making any future disentanglement more complicated.

Comcast actually has a deal with Netflix in certain markets where Netflix is included as part of your cable package, and isn't a separate charge. I have one of those packages - Comcast actually keeps sending me texts reminding me that my package includes Netflix now. Since my package is for 2 more years, I'd like to save at least little money on our stupid TV habit - that adds up to about $300. I'm actually surprised that our market is one with Netflix packages - its not real big. Or maybe is actually why we have it.... From the Comcast website: Netflix Package FAQs This article provides a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding Xfinity packages that include Netflix. Please note that these packages can only be purchased in select markets at this time; market availability will be expanded in the future.

I cut the cord last week and returned all the equipment to Directv. I was using Prime until I made up my mind, but I missed stuff like HGTV, Food Network, and some other channels.
So I decided to go with SlingTV, which is live tv with some movies on demand. The only trouble with Sling is that a lot of streaming devices like my ancient firesticks and my new-last-summer streaming blu-ray player don't work with it because it isn't on their list of Apps. So I bought a Raku. Then I signed up with Sling and will get another Raku for prepaying 2 months. There is no contract. Finally, I used some CC points to buy a third Raku from Amazon.
What can I say? I don't watch much tv, but I watch it all over the house . . . in the sunroom, in the living room when it is cold in the sunroom, and in my bedroom. I have a tv in the basement, but I'll settle for just Prime there since I rarely go down there these days.
I was paying $135 for just tv with a $30 discount that was expiring in January. I am now paying $35 a month. I did add cloud dvr and another $5 package that includes Lifetime.
I am very proud of myself. I probably kept it way too long, but it was for DH.

I live 60mi from both Boston and Providence, and my 85mi antenna picks up most local channels from both markets. of course on a *really* windy day, I'm out of luck, but that's kind of expected. link is below, it is a little cheaper than when I picked mine up a couple years ago - $43 now. 85mi roof antenna

AT&T increased their Directv now package for the second time in a year so I cut the cord again.
I’m going to alternate months with Netflix, Hulu HBO and CBS all access and will try to keep the discipline to binge shows every few months with each instead of keeping all of the subscriptions going.
I just got a couple antennas and get everything but CBS which is notoriously difficult to pick up via antennae in the Chi area. My baseball and hockey teams are out of market so I have league passes for them.

Really surprising to me- I'd have thought they'd be bitter competitors but if you can't beat 'em.... I was paying $135 for just tv with a $30 discount that was expiring in January. I am now paying $35 a month. I did add cloud dvr and another $5 package that includes Lifetime. I am very proud of myself. I probably kept it way too long, but it was for DH. Congratulations- great savings! I also dropped a lot after DH died but I'd set up a "box" with his name on it in Netflix so he could get to his favorites. Nearly 3 years later, I still can't make myself delete it.

The bigger markets here are probably Baltimore which is about 60 miles and Harrisburg which also about 60 miles.
