Trump would immediately expose the whistleblower on Twitter, call him/her all sorts of vile names, and declare open season on them. He's done this with so many others, why would he behave differently this time? And most Repubs in the house and senate would support Trump in this endeavor. Do you see the problem with this? Furthermore, at this point, why does the identity of the whistleblower matter unless it's to be used for defamation purposes? Others have already backed up what he/she claimed. I can't figure out why the Senate is interested...it's the House's responsibility to investigate and either do the article of impeachment or not...THEN it's time for Senate involvement.
Is this another Burr treasonous act?...for those who remember their history!
PS, my step-mother's maiden name was Burr....her sister was prevented from joining the DAR due to that...back in the 50's!

I am a bit confused on Value's post {as I am usually with Values posts} Are u suggesting the WB should come forward..emerge from the shadows..be identified..? I thought the laws protecting WB ers from having to be identified was so they could be protected from job loss or even physical happenings and thus be encouraged to come forward when they feel there is wrong doings by government employees... From what I have read, for the most part...Congress wants and needs these WB to keep government wrong doing to a minimum..these people are essential for the government to be run honestly..minimum of financial wrong doings..be able to root out corruption...or thats what I thought anyway. |

Considering the stunt Republicans just pulled which included bringing their cell phones into a secure location I would imagine that is the reason you have not seen the whistleblower. It would take two seconds for some dumb ass toady of Trump to click a picture and plaster it all over the internet which would make the person and their family a target.
Whistle blowers remain anoymous for their own safety. It encourages people to come forward without having to fear reprisal or harm.
We had a similar set up at the University for reporting non-compliance. The hospitals all have a similar system to report malpractice. Whoever I made a claim about would not know my name or ever "get to confront me face to face". It's not some sneaky government democrat lead conspiracy. It's to keep the system honest because if you knew your name was going to be tweeted out with encouragements to execute you would you dare to come forward?

Why do we need to hear from the original whistleblower?
We were told it was hearsay, but based on that hearsay, the people who actually have first hand knowledge like Taylor, Sondland, the Ukranian ambassador who was removed (Mary Ann?) and Fiona (Hill?) were questioned. S/he led us directly to the sources.
And Trump has basically confirmed what the whistleblower said.

I am going to suggest take a suggestion from over fifty years regarding our sortie in south east Asia...Declare we won the war and go home. Trump should declare his Administration has /is a success...100%...important goals, low unemployment...focus on America first..and any other successes he feels have been accomplished and declare he will retire after his term comes to a close. At his age he wants to concentrate on his business..family and enjoy the years he has left while he is able..give some rallies and speeches... write a book on his accomplishments..get his museum off the ground..pick a location, hire a designer....possible travel..Israel would be a start... Any thoughts? Write? He can barely read! He uses ghostwriters. Actually coming up with an idea for Trump to save face and declare victory would be a great idea. He needs to go, and if he needs a good cover story, I can live with that. |

Whistleblowers need protection, otherwise most would not come forward. Trump would immediately expose the whistleblower on Twitter, call him/her all sorts of vile names, and declare open season on them. He's done this with so many others, why would he behave differently this time? And most Repubs in the house and senate would support Trump in this endeavor. Do you see the problem with this? Furthermore, at this point, why does the identity of the whistleblower matter unless it's to be used for defamation purposes? Others have already backed up what he/she claimed. Is it because you doubt there is even a whistleblower in the first place, and this is all one big conspiracy concocted by the Dems to get poor, innocent, kind, gentle, honest Trump out of office? Besides, when the whistleblower first came out, all Trump's minions started shouting that it was all 'hearsay' information. Which was true - well documented information taken down by a professional, but still second hand information.
Since then, we've had many of the 'original' sources come forward, giving their own testimony, which perfectly corroborated the 'hearsay' testimony by the whistleblower - making the whistleblower no longer relevant.
Now the GOP is grasping at straws, 'the meetings are in secret,' 'the whistleblower won't come forward,' and now, from the WSJ, 'Trump was so incompetent he failed at making a quid pro quo deal, so it doesn't really matter.'
We're going through the 7 steps of grieving, and I think we're at the 'despair' step.
We need to scoot on through to the 'acceptance' stage - our president is a treasonous criminal who is willing to pull the Republic down rather than admit his criminal acts.
They've moved on to 'Anger' it looks like to me:

Or they've remained in the "rules are for other people" not us stage. They want to change how the impeachment process runs because they are unwilling to be grownups. It would be nice if they at least got their head out of Trump's colon enough to acknowledge they've ridden the devil horse farther than is reasonable. |
