The best part of his speech speaks directly to the state of this administration and in my best Dr Phil voice to the Party of Trump: Seek help for your TDS. "Lincoln went on, it was not the foreign aggressor we must fear; it was corrosion from within. The rot, the viciousness, the lassitude, the ignorance," Mattis paraphrased from the speech. "Anarchy is one potential consequence of all this. Another is the rise of an ambitious leader unfettered by conscience or precedent or decency who would make themselves supreme. "'If destruction be our lot,' Lincoln warned, 'We must, ourselves, be its author and finisher,'" Mattis quoted from the speech. www.businessinsider.com/former-defense-secretary-jim-mattis-on-trump-calling-him-overrated-2019-10Trump is America and America is Trump. All the rest are enemies- foreign and domestic- which must be defeated politically so that they don't eventually have to be defeated by other means.

Going along with how so many of our military leaders feel about the Donald as a leader of the country and as the Commander in Chief... and yes, we are hearing from our retired Generals and Admirals...those still active in the service are really prohibited of publicly expressing their feelings politically...though it's known that our military being who they are..and especially officer class lean hard right generally ... there feelings toward the Donald as commander in chief is not favorable. The former Special operation chief [Admiral] posted article here says it best.. ================================ "William McRaven, a retired four-star Navy admiral who led the U.S. Special Operations Command under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, believes President Trump’s decision to abandon America’s Kurdish allies in Syria is a betrayal that is eroding the country’s reputation both at home and abroad." "McRaven said that during a military ceremony at Fort Bragg, N.C., last week, a retired four-star general grabbed his arm and shouted, “I don’t like the Democrats, but Trump is destroying the Republic!”
" We are the most powerful nation in the world because we try to be the good guys. We are the most powerful nation in the world because our ideals of universal freedom and equality have been backed up by our belief that we were champions of justice, the protectors of the less fortunate." -------------------------------------------------www.yahoo.com/news/mcraven-trump-syria-our-republic-is-under-attack-144930205.html

This is a seriously anti-America, anti-Constitution post. Why do you hate America so much and its founding principles? Its America 101 that no one elected is the country, merely a representative of the country for a period of years. Is it time for you and the Trump koolaid drinkers to buy an island and install him in as king for life?

This sort of fascism is indeed anti-American and anti-democracy. Trump has successfully fed them full of authoritarian prattle and they are now high as a kite. I’m sure this is similar to Germany in the 30’s, that creeping disease that led to much worse.

I don't blame Mattis. He can't help it. It happens in just about every field, especially at the top.
When a person reaches the pinnacle of their career in a given field because they have mastered the very narrow area they work in, they can make the mistake of giving themselves credit for knowing a lot of other things they actually don't. You see it all the time when someone who is highly skilled and technically competent tries to start a business doing the thing they're really good at-- trouble is, they're not good at running a business. So, they fail despite their high level of competency.
There's a reason the United States military was Constitutionally designed to have civilian leadership, and for the first time in my lifetime, we are all getting a good look at what it's SUPPOSED TO ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE.
General Mattis is a great general. Trump should have acknowledged this fact- and then pointed out that if he disagrees, he should hang up his uniform, put on a suit and tie and run for the Presidency. Beyond that, he should shut his pie hole-- that's how I would handle it, and in fact, this is precisely how I've handled a few uppity employees of mine. Go start a business and compete with me, genius. No? Get back to work.
As I said in a previous post, in my best Dr. Phil voice: We've been "listening to the generals" and "listening to the intelligence agencies" for 18 years. How's that working for us?

How many retired generals and admirals has President Trump appointed to civilian positions?

General Mattis has EARNED the right to say whatever he pleases. Get over it!

This is what is scary to me. Hubs and I were up working on the post office yesterday. We see over 20 ATV's the bigger ones going by, in the lead was one with an American flag and a 2020 trump flag. The scruftiest bunch of guys I've seen, but big dollars in those machines. I actually felt fear. I knew there were a bunch of them around, not sure the purpose. They went to our lovely town park that a lot of us socialist types have worked hard on to improve and I would not drive through it like I often do. It's a beautiful scene there, looking down over the river and into Illinois for miles upon miles. I hope they didn't destroy anything up there. This is the kind of thing trump is breeding. The low income and poorly educated are following him. Here it seems the poorer they are the bigger ATV's they have. I want nothing to do with it. I feel moreso the need to go to the gun range, work on my shooting abilities and to buy more ammo to protect me from people like these. I fear for our democracy and safety if he somehow gets in 4 more years. And yes there are liberal prepper groups and I do belong to one.
I wondered if any were veterans if they are how can they follow him? I know many do not. One lady here has kissed his a** because of anti abortion, her husband is retired military. I have noticed since this Kurd deal she has said nothing in favor of him. I imagine her hubs stopped that and should have.

Although the term "docusoap" has been used for many documentary-style reality television shows, there have been shows that have deliberately tried to mimic the appearance and structure of soap operas. link What has changed is we now have a lead character who continually fuels the "show".

Oh yes, more thinly veiled threats of violence considered necessary to purge political opponents. Is this another “by any means necessary” moment fueled by your paranoia? That’s a fascist approach isn’t it? Thus Un-American and anti-democratic. Looks like you have morphed into an enemy of We The People. ALL violence and threats of violence come from Democrats. I haven't changed my mind concerning the natural right of human beings to defend themselves. David Nicholas Dempsey, 32, was arrested after he scuffled with a group of anti-Trump demonstrators at the Santa Monica Pier, during which the supporters and protesters shouted at each other for about 10 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Times. "Everything went to crap,” Santa Monica Police Sgt. D. Hicks, who declined to give his full name, told the newspaper. Video posted online shows a man, believed to be Dempsey, pull out the bottle and disseminate the pepper spray-like substance at the group, including one at close range. “The f--king liberals over here,” Dempsey says in the video. “These commies.” A convicted felon, Dempsey isn’t legally allowed to have pepper spray, according to KTLA. Dempsey was charged with prohibited use of a tear gas weapon, assault with a caustic chemical and violating parole. He’s being held without bail and is due in court Tuesday, according to online jail records. Keeping enough mid-east friends that we have a bunch of oil - check.

I have noticed since this Kurd deal she has said nothing in favor of him. I imagine her hubs stopped that and should have. So, you saw a bunch of guys riding ATV's and one of them had an American flag and a Trump 2020 flag on it. Serious question- what possible- and this word is important- rational - reason would you have anything to fear from some guys riding around on ATVs with an American flag and a Trump flag on them? It is not as if they were dressed in all black, wearing masks over their faces, blocking the road while you were trying to go to the US Post Office- yelling, screaming, spitting, or hurling urine, feces, rocks, or explosives at you-- right? I would hope they didn't do any damage to the park, either-- but if they did, I imagine authorities wouldn't have a hard time finding them-- and they should. But again- it's not like the dangerous, violent leftist thugs you can rest assured would be going there to purposefully cause damage. If the worst thing a President does is inspire someone to put an American flag and their campaign flag on an ATV and ride it with their friends to a park-- I'm going to call that #winning. Also, I'm confused- are they "low income" or are they riding "big dollar" machines? The poorer they are, the bigger ATV's they have? Perhaps you're confusing working class, or blue collar with poor? And again- very important: What rational reason would you have for feeling you needed a firearm and training to protect yourself from people riding their ATV's to a park? Being prepared is just good common sense no matter your politics, but I can state categorically that if you ever find yourself in a SHTF scenario- the last fucking people on earth you're gonna want to know where you are and what you have are a bunch of liberals-- if you need to get to the range to practice so you can protect yourself, it's going to be from the liberal mob; and the best fucking friends you're ever gonna meet are the guys on those ATV's.

At lease Pat wasn't run over to death, gut shot, or had bear spray directed at her by one of the many armed militant organizations like the Oath Keepers and others planning Civil War.

Other than Meet the Press on Sunday, Time, or US News and world report we were basically clueless to the real actions and back door shenagians going on. What's scary to a lot of people is that we went through two world wars, the Korean war, the Vietnam war, countless foreign adventures and the first Gulf War largely with what I call the "Trust Us" model. You didn't get a lot of news- and that was by design. You weren't supposed to get a lot of news. You were supposed to get the 4:00 a.m. talking points and trust the professionals to handle world affairs. If they needed your money, or the lives of your children- they'd let you know. Otherwise, don't call them-- they'll call you. Today, we live in a post-propaganda society. Journalism isn't dead. It's nearly completely decomposed. And while there remains a hardcore 25% to 30% of the country that take the old "big three networks", CNN, and MSNBC seriously- the rest of us have moved on. The political establishment, the corporate media and all those it still employs with subsidies from programs people actually watch, and the globalists who pull their strings are horrified by this development-- and the hardcore fake news audience is equally horrified-- because the fake news has told them they should be horrified and they do what they're told. It'll still be a decade or so before there's nothing but dry bones left and we study the bygone era of a universal narrative, but there you go. Call it reality tv-- but really, it's just reality.

... Today, we live in a post-propaganda society. ... I can understand why someone who posts hardcore propaganda wants people to believe they are living in a post-propaganda society.

Liberals, you hard right people call liberals cowards and sheeple, yet now you claim they or we are causing all this trouble. You claim we could not protect ourselves yet claim we would riot, etc, can't have it both ways. Better look in the mirror. I can tell looking at that bunch they will be trouble, I don't know where they came from. We have no law enforcement in our tiny outlier, rural community, its 12 miles to the nearest town. And yes the poorest around here somehow have these expensive ATV's, not sure how they get them. Probably some of them are stolen around here.

T he low income and poorly educated are following him. I caution you to not assume the bolded. I think personality has a bigger bearing on who is following him versus economic circumstance or educational level. One pundit suggested his followers may contain a lot of fellow narcissists which makes sense to me but I have no proof. The pro-birth people are for him because he's the only game in town.

ALL violence and threats of violence come from Democrats. I haven't changed my mind concerning the natural right of human beings to defend themselves. California man in MAGA hat arrested for allegedly spraying bear repellent at anti-Trump crowd at Santa Monica protestOctober 21, 2019 A man wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat was arrested Saturday after he allegedly sprayed bear repellent into a crowd of protesters.
