So, I want to get some friend's a "housewarming" gift card as they are moving out of state. I see that there are both a Tractor Supply Co. and a Rural King close by their new abode. These stores look like they can purchase paint and hardware for the house, yard stuff, "home goods", pet stuff, clothes, and guns, ammo, car parts, and who knows what else. The store like this in my neck of the woods is Farm and Fleet. Any experience with either Rural King or Tractor Supply Co? What's the difference? Any preference? I imagine my friends would be going there for yard tools (rake or seeds or plants or work gloves or garden gnomes), routine hardware stuff to fix things around the new house (so paint or brushes or curtain/drape hanging stuff or picture hanging stuff), or patio stuff, or stuff to put in their 3 season room.

We only have a tractor supply here. I go to buy dog/cat food and DH does buy some yard tools, etc. there. I have never bought paint there, so not sure what they offer. But if they have never owned a house and need tools, gardening items, etc., then a gift card there would be nice.

We have both here, but don't go often. Rural King, ours anyway, is bigger and has more variety. They've got more types of paint, etc and more outdoorsy stuff like kayaks, etc. Live chicks, too, lol. For what you expect them to buy, the Rural King here would have better options.

Thanks! I checked the websites and it does sound like Rural King is the better choice. I will pair that up with a SuperWalmart (which is a quite a bit further away). That should do the trick. Thanks again.

Rural King is hilarious- my apologies to people that shop there. We went to the one in Knoxville last Thanksgiving weekend with my sister in law and her husband. It made for the most fascinating people watching. Want a giant pool floaty shaped like a p.oop emoji? Aisle 4. Want 6 live baby chicks? Aisle. 9. Want some pink camo wear? Aisle 12. Shotguns? Candy? school supplies? Shoes? etc. They had the strangest assortment of items. I was absolutely fascinated.

Lol. I don't have an opinion on which store would be best in your situation, but every store listed so far are all customers of ours. I can tell you their payment habits. 😁

I just moved to a place that has Rural King and heard some people st work talking about it. I have got to see that place, it is outside the city (of course) maybe 10 miles away.
How about Lowe’s or Home Depot? As someone who just bought a house we are doing a lot of work on, I can verify my Lowe’s bill is rising fast. Every day is “ not another trip to Lowe’s day”.
