I've made that case before. Freed from his personal failings he would have been very good. He still accomplished much, but how many people know anything other than Watergate? China.
And a really funny political cartoon after Nixon's death where St. Peter was looking at his book of names and telling another angel "Clear my day. This one is going to take a while."

Those of you that support the Dems have no idea of the dangers in this. The perpetrators, themselves, don't care. This is by far and away the most cynical thing that has ever happened in American politics in my lifetime. The Gulf of Tonkin lies, Watergate, Iran/Contra, and The Lying Bastard of The Ozark Long-March pale in comparison. These fiends really think that they have achieved their Gramscian Moment: the conquest of the institutions is complete, and the time has arrived. This could actually cost everybody *everything*. The Right does not completely realize what's on the table. The commies do. They're all-in, because that's what they do. Actually the scariest thing that has occurred is the belief in the Trump generated hoax and conspiracy theory, the coup that wasn't. Trump played victim early on before he was even elected. How you can have a coup against a candidate, is something that makes no logical sense, but I suppose it works if you believe in conspiracy theories. Maybe definitions work differently in Trump land. I thought coups were only applicable to elected leaders. The danger is Trump. Trump is the coup.

I’m not freaked out by the Russkies at all nor am I a representative of anyone other than myself. Unlike you I don’t call myself a ‘we’. I’m a stone cold individual.

Very true. While looking for the exact wording of this one I found a dozen more that would also work on this board somewhere.

This one is my favourite....so very apropos.
"As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

No shit Sherlock. Your cult hero digs his Nixxonian hole deeper ever day and twitter twice on Sundays. There is no impeachment inquiry. There's impeachment inquiry theater. You are not a constitutional lawyer. There is no defined process in the constitution, nor have their been any solid laws passed. She is not following the process that was followed for Clinton, but alas, when Mitch decided tradition only needed to be followed when it suits the party, Nancy can do whatever she wants.

I think he decided to use the fears of some Americans to win the Presidency and control them. I now believe that when Trump supporters say he "tells it like it is" they mean his diatribes against people he doesn't like. I no longer think its because they believe what he says about the state of the country or any programs.

Nancy can do whatever she wants.
I remember when she shut the power off in the Congressional House, and then lost her cushy seat as speaker.
Don't think she will pull that one again. The impeachment inquiry is a lost cause and is wasting time and funds. But Nancy can do whatever she wants.

If that is true it is only because Republicans in the Senate have no courage and no integrity. As Jeff Flake said, if it were a secret vote there would be (at least) 35 Republicans voting to convict. Many, too many, are afraid to do their Constitutional duty to this country, preferring to try and safeguard their own seat instead. History will not look well on them.

Republican voters don't like people who tell the truth.

Not that I’ve ever seen. Just speaking truth to the power of Trump and his personality cult. Of course that will yield name calling by his deranged minions.
