Wait...what? The national costume of the USA is Superman? Superman is Canadian/American.

What ever became of Tonga Man carrying his nation's flag at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

I liked South Africa best. Some of them were pretty goofy!

Actually, Superman was from a different planet. I was expecting blue jeans and a hoodie.

Wait...what? The national costume of the USA is Superman? Superman is Canadian/American. You spoiled it 😝 I laughed out loud when I got to it...the best I've got is the poor fella thought they meant costume like Halloween costume.

Yes, he's hot. But I always giggle at his attire. In Tonga, it is technically illegal for men to be shirtless in public.

Well, went back to take a second look and I'm kinda liking Mexico. But I think it's more the skull headdress that caught my eye second time around. Fine looking skull

the Tonga flag bearer has qualified for a Winter Olympics sport, so he will be walking in that opening ceremonies as well. I can't remember which sport, but I saw an interview not too long ago.

Do I have to choose one? I thought the flag wearing Switzerland guy was just as odd as the American guy's "costume" It is kind of sad that America doesn't have a "national costume".

Yeah, but I was talking with a friend and at least you can figure out he's from Switzerland! We were also trying to figure out what would have been a better national costume. It's boring, but a suit. I was laughing when I said pilgrim costume. Another thought is military, but it'd be weird for a dude to wear if they weren't in it. All rambo style with a bunch of guns strapped to him?

Here's hoping that someone takes pity on him and sends him a ta'ovata and suggests that it would go nicely with a red tupenu and any white shirt. Then he'd be in national costume.

I'll give you the non-ambiguity of the guy from Switzerland. I've got a soft spot in my heart for period foreign shows... and, well, Opera (so exaggerated costumes that explain the time frame/place) so I did connect some of the costumes to the countries the guys were representing. I was thinking a business suit for the American guy as well. And not a fuddy duddy one... these guys are young and fit so a more formal double breasted suit. FWIW: The "costume" for Japan and India are sometimes worn as "formal wear" for some occassions. Sweden is also special occasion wear. I suspect Nigeria and Togo are also "formal wear". So, a business suit would not have been out of the question for the American guy. ADDED: China and Korea might also fall into the "Formal Wear" category... something you'd wear to a wedding or other official occassion

I'm guessing it's 2A but that's just a guess.
I really don't know. I've never seen it flashed and I welcome any commentary with more insight.

Throw in an American flag handkerchief if you must.

These two in the picture seem to be the type who will condemn Colin Kaepernick and others kneeling while the American national anthem is played. Yet these two have no problem desecrating the American flag by wearing parts of it as clothing. The woman also appears to be wearing a 'Don't Tread On Me' cape like the below.

Am I the only one that wants to punch and/or bully Sweden? Well, if you do either of those I suspect he can defend himself. “A man walks down the street in that hat outfit, people know he's not afraid of anything.” (my apologies to Whedon) And if by some chance he can't defend himself I will jump in to do so. I think Sweden is looking rather dapper and confident. Confidence is sexy.
