I'm on the cusp here! It's 58 degrees out, not too low! but I left the windows open last night as usual. Lately it's been chilly at night, toasty under covers, and by 9-10 a.m. the temps are up to at least mid-60s and all is well. not today, never hit 60 so I did close the windows earlier - maybe 11ish - but still just a tad chilly for me. I am loath to give in and hit the furnace. It's going to be 86 by Monday! Going to climb in with the cats, a hot water bottle, and some covers and watch TV. and by hot water bottle, I mean an empty gallon vinegar plastic jug filled with the hottest the tap water gets. Maybe I could finish the chores if I turned on the heat, but I'm not gonna! It's not October even! I have some bean soaking so will cook those tomorrow. Didn't have anything available for cooking long-term today to warm up the kitchen....

I have a feeling we are going to go directly from mid-July temps right into winter, house heating temps. This coming week, temps in the upper 90s to close and maybe even 100 degrees.

We still have A/C going. Temp today in the low 90s and with the storm gone the humidity is in the 20s.
The storm that came through here last Monday was a real gully-washer. Streets flooded, leaky roofs, church sanctuary had a couple of inches of water on the carpet. In this town we had about 4 inches in 2 hours ...... and that is a lot of water for a very dry desert. Fortunately our home is on a small rocky hill and water runs off and down the street. Last couple of days several neighbors drained off the excess water from their pools.
Looking forward to turning off the A/C and enjoying the great weather.
Put on sweats, get a cup of hot chocolate, your kitties, and a good movie.
Enjoy

It took a turn for the chilly here in Boise. Too cold for this early, so I hope it passes and we get some more warm days. It was nice and then today it won't get out of the 50's. I won't see 60 degrees until Wednesday.
I haven't had to run the heat yet and the AC has been off for almost a month. House is sitting at 70 with the windows closed. I plan to run the oven for dinner, so that should warm things up a bit.
I love Fall. I would like Fall to be nice and long and not rush right into winter.

We’re in the tween season, where we switch back and forth between A/C and heat. Some rain went through mid afternoon and left snow just up the hill. That was on top of the snow from last winter that is still up the mountain. Since we’re not normally known for our glaciers, does our year round snow mean global warming is over and we’re moving into an ice age?

I really don’t know what to think about the weather here anymore. FB memes aside, summers have always been HOT here, but I don’t remember them being this horrid or the brutal heat lasting this long. And I’ve lived in this area my whole life! Summer has ALWAYS been my favorite season, but lately I’ve been rethinking that (I’m pretty sure I still HATE winter though ). Maybe I’m just getting older (but I thought people tend to be cold as they get older) or my memory is wonky, or maybe it’s menopause or...... idk. As far as the OP, I turn on the heat or a/c whenever I need to, to be comfortable at home. After a lifetime of being cold almost everywhere I go (until recently!), I refuse to be too hot or too cold at home, and I don’t care what the calendar says lol.

Little did I know when I moved from a horribly cold and snowy 1993-1994 winter in New Hampshire i would be trading it for horribly hot 1994-2019 summers in Memphis. This summer especially long and hot. I will say this past winter, and for the first time, I started wearing a sweatshirt in the house because I was cold. I keep the heat at 70 degrees. I am 68 years old now so I might be becoming cold sensitive.

We are in the 90s with drought conditions. My lawn guy usually cuts until the end of October/mid November so it isn't unheard of. Fall is usually November and December. We frequently wear short sleeves in December.

Moved to Nashville area last weekend (finally) from the Tampa area and shocked to find temps right now and over the next few days are higher than down there. Humidity is much, much lower though, so a bit more tolerable. Having been born and raised in WI, my brain still can’t accept such warm fall weather even after 29 years in FL.

This was my 26th summer here and I am still not used to the heat and humidity. Not the same summer temps like New England summers where I'm originally from.

I just kicked the heat on for the first time this fall today. After a long week/weekend of work when I got home today the house was 63 degrees. That's when I said screw it I'm cold I'm turning the heat on. Why be uncomfortable just to meet some arbitrary date.

When I lived in the Midwest, I didn't care what the date was on the calendar. If I was cold, I turned on the furnace. Even if we got enough heat later in the Fall to turn the AC on again, so be it. The older I get, the more my body aches when there are big swings in temperature. And, I'm not even close to retirement age just yet.

DH has moved into the master bedroom, which is the coldest room because it has two or three vents. He wanted me to shut one off, but I discovered they are rusted open. The dog and I loved the temp, but he hates it. So I blocked it off with a lap board. Will that hurt anything? The dog no longer sleeps with me because his former bedroom is the warmest room in the house. She is currently a vent hugger. Her coat is getting too long, but a trip to the vet for grooming is hard to schedule right now. Life is what it is. DH is starting to look like a 76-year-old mountain man.

I flipped back to heat the middle of last week. I'll probably switch on the AC on Monday, then go back. I had to take a hot bath this afternoon to warm up after watching morning soccer games. It was around 60, but windy, and I sometimes have a hard time warming up again after getting chilled.

It's to be hot several days next week.

It's been A/C weather so far and the next 10 days should be highs in the mid 80s. NW Ark trees are still green and the grass is still being cut.

It’s still hot as blazes here. And will be for at least another week. We likely won’t need to turn the heat on here until mid-October at the earliest. Whhyyyyyy won’t summer quit already?? Don’t get me wrong, I hate winter, but some 70 degree days would be nice right about now! It’s 7am here and already 75* with 93% humidity. Gag.

It was a cosy evening on the couch!
Still not very warm out (62 currently, not sure what the low was last night) but with all the windows closed for nearly 24 hrs it is much more comfortable inside.
Will need to catch up on chores today! And cook the beans!

It's 70 in here this morning, but it's supposed to be 84, so I'm not turning on the heat just yet.
We also have too much rain and it's raining again today.

The temperature is lovely here right now. I prefer summer and at least 80 degrees.
But considering this is Fall season in New England, I will take a 70 degrees day like today.
I haven't even thought about turning the heat on yet. We'll have 85 degrees on Wednesday, but then it's all downhill from there, as far as I can see in the forecast. Still, I'll take it.

Daytime temps hovering in the high 50's to low 60's in our part of the Pacific Northwest. A bit chilly but not cold enough to turn on the heat.

Mt. Shasta has snow and my bathroom window had ice on it this morning. It hailed here yesterday on the valley floor, which is about 3K' in elevation.
I gave in and turned on the heater yesterday when the house dropped below 60.
I have a new electric heater that was installed on Thursday and it seems to be working a lot better. We discovered the main duct was disconnected from the other heater, so I spent last winter heating under my house as much as the interior spaces...
This coming week all the doors and windows are being replaced, so hopefully that will do something to keep the house more insulated. I froze last winter with power bills in the $400 a month range.

Heating season? Did We skip Oct., Nov., Dec., Jan. And jump to mid February and no one told me? I agree with busymom. It’s hot A/C is on. Cold heat is on! A lot of time both in same day.

VERY unusual for TN to be this hot right now. Usually, fall has kicked in at this point.
Also, crazy dry. My trees are losing their leaves not due to fall but due to drought, I think.
At least in Nashville you should be protected from hurricanes. Not tornadoes, though.....

I've recently moved the A/C thermostat from 76 to 77 Its been low 60s to 90s. That little cool front just makes the A/C run better. I don't usually kick on the heat until the highs are in the 70s.

My house has a bunch of south facing windows, so as long as the sun is out, we can go without the furnace for a long time just by opening the blinds and letting it heat up during the day. But, I still have the AC on in MN and it's supposed to be upper 80's and humid today.
