Dammit. It was all a hoax. There will be no vote (because 69 'moderates' said f- no). I really don't quite understand what they're doing. They're essentially admitting to themselves there's no clear path to impeaching Trump in the House (to say nothing of the firewall in the Senate) but at the same time, Trump gets to keep all the political advantages of fighting impeachment? It's almost like they stepped in it re: Ukraine and now they need to be able to say none of that is real- it's just political retaliation because Trump knows he's going to be impeached... Dems are doing this strange thing called 'waiting for the documents, investigating the facts before deciding whether or not to impeach.'
I know fact checking and veracity are odd concepts for someone who adheres to Trump's style of politics, but there you have it.
If the whistleblower complaint is bullshit, if there is no solid proof Trump did strong arm the Ukrainian president, then I hope the Dems would NOT move to impeach.
At least one of the major parties has to adhere to some kind of ethnical code. Sorry, but this isn't how it works. The common name for this conduct is "fishing expedition". It is improper to open a perpetual investigation of a person to "see if they've committed a crime". This is the kind of thing Stalinist Russia used to do- "show me the man, I'll find you the crime". Here in America, we do not investigate people, we investigate crimes. You would benefit from reading that again and letting it sink in: here in America, we do not investigate people, we investigate crimes. That means when there is specific, articulable evidence that a crime has been committed, we will then open an investigation and find out what happened and who is involved.

So getting a whistle blower report to the Congressional intelligence committee and letting them review it, which is the legal, constitutional requirement in such cases, is now 'fishing?'
Under your argument, if I murder someone and bury them behind my house, and someone hears a gunshot at my house but doesn't witness the crime, is it 'fishing' for the cops to come and ask me why I have a soft spot of dirt in the garden in the exact size and shape of a man? Excavating the hole is a witch hunt?
Interesting.

No, Trump calls them the failing NYT regularly. It must be true. feelings are the new facts.
... but fact are not facts, so what does that say about feelings.

The White House sends out their propaganda talking points...to the Democrats and then tried to delete the email. White House Sends Impeachment Talking Points to Democrats, Then Tries to Recall Them“They’re complete Orwellian lies and toxic trash,” Representative Bill Pascrell Jr., a Democrat who received the message, said of the talking points. (He did not use them.) A White House official on Wednesday accidentally sent talking points for allies defending the president to Democratic officials, then tried to “recall” the memo. In the email, the White House laid out guidance for how supporters should publicly discuss President Trump’s July phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine. An allegation that Mr. Trump tried to use that conversation for political gain contributed to the decision by House Democrats to announce a formal impeachment inquiry on Tuesday. But the White House list of concise points and counterpoints was also sent to the offices of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic lawmakers. Representative Brendan F. Boyle, Democrat of Pennsylvania, said that his office had also received the email. “I will not be using their spin and will instead stick with the truth,” he said on Twitter. “But thanks though.” The email, sent by Tori Q. Symonds, a White House communications staff member, argued that there were “myths” being spread by Democrats about the phone call, which had “triggered a media frenzy of false accusations.” White House Sends Impeachment Talking Points to Democrats, Then Tries to Recall Them

Most of the time the incompetence of this administration is troubling. Sometimes it's hilarious...

I think I was the first person to mention that possibility on this board. she's one step closer now. If trump is impeached and removed from office, Pence will become president. If Pence is worthy of impeachment and removal from office too, which I doubt, his removal won't be at the exact same time as trump. Pence will select a vice president who, if Pence is removed, would then become president. Pelosi will not become president any time soon.

I'm kinda wondering how it would play out if Pence was the whistle-blower.

So I just saw something that said the whistleblower was a CIA officer whose assigned detail was the WH.
