Does he have a lawyer? It sounds to me like he needs to go back to court to find out the answer to that.
Cheesy FL-Vol, I should know this, but you're an attorney, correct? What are your thoughts?

There has to be a legal obligation to pay someone for something which wasn't being paid for money to be garnished. Assuming there is a connection to the child and the garnisment, I would think that the garnishment was for court ordered child support not paid. The moneys collected would go to whomever was owed that support minus processing fees for the garnisment. Don't see how current custody would negate the previous arrangements.

Guys, he had temporary full since last year. Money were always paid when child was with an ex. Since she lost her custody to him - court decided to garnish the money he was paying her because child was in his custody. On the 12th court ended and he got full Permanent. Yesterday he went to wherever with opera and they said they don’t know where his money. He called lawyer and lawyer said he can’t help. So today he is calling that place in Albany and they saying he should go to Manhattan tomorrow AGAIN because there is no direct number.

I've never been on either side of this so I can't say for sure, but I'd think that whatever department that oversees child support is responsible for the garnishment. Although, I guess I don't understand why he's being garnished if he has full custody. For the lawyer to say he can't help sounds like a load of crap. Isn't that part of what he gets paid for? But it does sound like going back to the court that awarded him custody would be the place to start.

In NJ, it's done through Probation. Try calling them. Until custody became permanent, was the ex still maintaining a home that would accommodate a child?

In NJ, it's done through Probation. Try calling them. Until custody became permanent, was the ex still maintaining a home that would accommodate a child? After divorce child stayed with an ex and he paid child support. Then her mental illness became an issue and child moved with him. Court gave him perm/full and child is living with him since Summer 2018. Mother was issued restraining order and weren’t in a picture. No accommodation for the child. Nobody even know where she is living now. Suspected she is staying in mental home for women somewhere. His wages were automatically continuing to be garnished and put on escrow account until final court desision. So now when all is over - nobody knows where the money are. Tomorrow he will try again. Lawyers stated that he is a family court lawyer not the money retriever lawyer. 🤷♀️🤦♀️

It's the county support collection unit. Your lawyer is full of shit or an idiot. Find another lawyer.

After calling Albany they sent him to Manhattan child services place and when he has mentioned Albany - everything was resolved and it’s done and over with now. No, not the lawyers job. Thanks everybody.
