2 new ones for me Last week "Me are renewing your Microsoft security plan and you will be billed $1500. Call if you don't want to automatically renew." Today "Your Microsoft refund has failed. Please call to get your refund" Both in the same annoying female computer voice.

My wife is floral manager at location of a grocery store chain. Scammers have been hitting their in house Starbucks. She got a call the other day with them wanting her to test our her floral department cash register.

Up until this year, I was receiving 20 plus scam calls a week..
This year, I'm getting about two a week.
I'm feeling neglected.

I forward all my landline calls to my cell phone. If I don't recognize the name or number I don't answer. If caller doesn't leave voice message (they never do) I block the number then delete. My caller ID list that is blocked by Verizon has to be in the hundreds.....ATT only allow 20 numbers to be blocked and all 800 # numbers are not blocked.

I think we got the one about your account is going to be charged . . . whatever. I hung up. Now that I am retired, I answer the phone. If I don't recognize the number or they don't identify themselves immediately, I have become this incredibly rude person who says, "Can you tell me what you want?" Most of the scammers or whatever stumble then because it isn't part of their script. And then I hang up about 15 seconds later.

DH's philosophy is that if he doesn't recongize the name or number he doesn't answer. The problem is that there are legitimate people who try to call us . . . the pest control guy, for example. I always answer and hang up if they don't tell me immediately who they are. This has actually reduced out number of robo-calls. DH was getting them all day long. We get 1 or 2 a day now.

I don't answer if I don't know the number. I do if I am expecting a call but not if it's no caller ID. If they want me, they will leave a message.

The big change I have seen in the last few years is that all the calls are recorded . So no chance to mess with or yell at the caller.

Don’t know how many Xfinity allows to be blocked but I’ve blocked a ton. I do it online on their website just about once or twice a week. Lazy I don’t answer my phone at all if I don’t know who is on the other end. Heck sometimes I don’t answer when I do know. Same with cell. I basically hate the phone. Like others said they can leave message.

I don't block numbers because they are spoofing the numbers. They very rarely call from the same number anyway so it doesn't help. I don't want to block a number I might actually need.
I've never had a landline. If I don't know the number and I'm not expecting a call, it goes to voicemail.

I got the Social Security compromised one 8 times in one hour a few weeks ago. Strange thing about the SS call is that I get them on cell and SS does not have my cell no. But no where as many as you have gotten. Just one or two.

I had calls from the same scam # so many times that I know it by heart I didn't bother to block it just so they wouldn't start with a new number - I know the old number.

From around 2015 through the early days of 2019, I received over 120 calls from the same "Lower you CC interest rate" scammers. Always a different caller ID, always a different area code, and always a different first three digits of the phone number.
But what never changed were the last four digits of the phone number: 8992.
So I always knew who was calling me and didn't bother to pickup the phone or blocks the caller.
That it never worked getting my attention and interest to answer their calls, they switched to spoofing local phone numbers of real people or companies. As I don't know any of these folks calling me, I don't pick up or block. Waste of time as the caller IDs and numbers never repeat themselves.

Today I received 2 calls within about 4 hours from the same number. The computer voice was telling me that the warranty on my car had expired and for me to talk with an agent to get it renewed.
The second call I blocked the number and deleted from history.

All my doctors leave appointment reminder messages. It does not violate privacy rules to do this or to leave a message to return a call.

Have to take your word for it since I haven't had to receive a call from doc or hospital. 7 years ago when I went to doc they just gave me a card for next apt. My dentist does send email reminder and a robo call but their name shows up on caller ID - I still don't answer since they leave message.

Most of my doctors ask if they can leave messages when you fill out the new patient paperwork. And beyond that most just text me now. Much easier to confirm my appointment that way versus having to call back.

Most of my doctors send text reminders and a voice mail. All it says is a member of your household has an appointment with a provider on and the date and time.
No privacy issues there.
I did receive a voice mail last week of over 2 1/2 minutes of background noise from what sounded like a call center.

On my cell phone, a couple times a month I'll get a voicemail (I don't answer calls I don't recognize) saying my Verizon account is suspended and I need to call to get it turned back on.
On the house phone, I get a TON of unknown callers every week. I've taken to blocking entire area codes if I know I will never have cause to get a call from there. Unfortunately, most of the scammers anymore call from my own area code and I can't just block that. I have PPL as the electric company, and in PA, you get to choose the carrier of the electricity (though PPL is who bills it). I get the most calls from places saying they are either PPL or other energy companies wanting to switch my company. I must have blocked 100 numbers from them already. We also get people who come to the door wanting to see your electric bill under the guise of getting you a lower price. Thanks, but I don't buy services at the door or on the phone unless I initiate it!

I answer the phone because if I don't I've found they'll keep calling me back. I check the caller ID & when I didn't answer many call again. If it's a scam I get nasty. One time one of the callers asked if I cursed at my mother like that & even though she's passed on I said yes I do & all the women in my family curse like that too (that part was true, in fact I just talked about that with my sister the other day, she, her daughter & her granddaughters all swear like sailors)

My doctors call with appointment reminders, some do email reminders.
Now the scams are using local numbers. I'm getting some since I got the new cell last year but not bad at all. I got the SS scam and some other stuff I have hung up on. Hope it stays like this. Before I got rid of the landline that last day think I got something like 15, had enough of that and dropped it.

Do you get a lot of “live” people on the other end. I figured by now most would be robo calls. Clueless on this end since don’t pick up here. But I have to say, I could give you a run for your money with cursing. I’m the potty mouth of the south. So I can relate

While I had my phone on do not disturb I received 11 phone calls in 11 minutes from the same number. Began with 888 prefix. Obviously redialing. No message left. Found nothing when I googled number. Blocked number.
