They are working on the laws they can change. In recent years Washington voters have passed initiatives requiring background checks on all gun sales and that private party transfers have to be conducted through licensed gun dealers, that the age of purchase be raised, that there be waiting periods, and that expanded background checks include medical records. All handgun and semiautomatic rifle sales must be recorded and reported to local police/sheriff and the state department of licensing. In addition, there are red flag laws and a requirement that anyone attempting to purchase a semiautomatic rifle provide proof that they have completed a recognized firearm safety course within the last five years. There have also been attempts to mandate safe storage and reporting requirements for lost or stolen weapons in some cities but those attempts are being challenged in court. Of course, I can even list more things. but... How does that stop criminals from walking into a store in Washington State, with intent to kill, open carrying a weapon ? With ten, ten round clips taped back to back in his cargo pants pockets. Well, maybe if all law enforcement officers had a "license to shoot" anyone carrying a weapon in public that might help.... A few more mass shooting events with no serious response by the feckless GOP and someone might start working on it.

Ok, let's say We do background checks on ordinary person to person gun sales. And a confiscation of all "Assault weapons". How many do you think are going to actually do it? If you're caught with a weapon that wasn't properly sold to you (meaning, the owner didn't comply with the background check requirements) they take your gun away, charge you with a crime for having the gun, and go back to the guy you bought it from and charge him, too. Do this for a while, and people with a legal interest will start doing it, and people with a criminal interest will keep getting extra years tacked on to their sentences for illegal possession of a gun. How are they going to do it? What are you going to do, walk into a police station with a gun, Why would they have to bring the gun at all? Why couldn't they just do it on line? Dear Police - I want to sell my hand gun, serial number xxx, to OC, here is his address, please let me know if he passes the background check. Easier than getting your driver's license renewed.
say I want to sell this to my friend. you will never get a word out of your mouth before you are shot by the police!!! If you walk into a police department brandishing a weapon you're too stupid to live anyway. Ever heard of the Darwin awards?
Do you think this will now stop the drills that are now in place? Not immediately. It will take a while to get the excess inventory out of the hands of the crazy people
Do you think this will stop the people from killing each other? People will always kill each other, sometimes in very creative ways. This will reduce the mass shootings, domestic shootings, and suicides by gun. Do you think anything will change in Chicago? The only constant in life is change. This will cause change for the better - maybe slowly, but it will change. Doing nothing at all simply accepts the status quo as what we're stuck with. That's not acceptable to a lot of us.
1. Ain't gona happen,
2. Make, model, S/N, proof such a piece exists? 3. Are they going to run a back ground check on you to see if you legally had the gun? This is like fire drills, It is called training, We have fire drills Right? what are the possibility of a school fire? Slim and next to none,
Now scour the internet looking for school fire when the students were there,, probably more shooting than fires. 4. Nope, is not going to have any effect on people killing each other, only more creative. 5.Chicago?? nope,, down hill from here.
Remember you are dealing with people that have ZERO value of some one else's life! I seem kinda passionate about this, Right ?? Maybe some what like you are about Women's Right's??

(nice try on the deflection at the end of your post, you always were rather lame with that. you forgot Trump, Trump, and because of people that vote for Trump.)

Who passed an open carry law in Washington state? They just have not directly prohibited it. There is a law against carrying a weapon in a manner meant to intimidate or that warrants alarm for the safety of others. No law was passed establishing open carry as a right.

OldCoyote , your insistence that it's your "right" to have a military grade weapon is laughable, in my opinion. The second amendment concerns a *well regulated militia*. Last time I checked, neither you nor I were part of a militia. And unless something big goes down, requiring private citizens to bear arms against an enemy, you will not be part of a militia in the future. Whether it's a man or a woman arguing that assault weapons are their right, it's just a manifestation of tiny dick syndrome. Overcompensation for some other area in their life that's inadequate. In regards to the bolded; Like Roe vs Wade, there was a Supreme Court decision on this not that long ago. Quote; Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), is a landmark case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, unconnected with service in a militiaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller The argument that guns are only for a militia, was over in 2008, eleven years ago. Yeah, you can say something big went down.

The Court erred. The Stevens dissent is far more persuasive.

The Court erred. The Stevens dissent is far more persuasive. To bad the "persuasive" was the dissent. He definitely wasn't persuasive enough before the vote/decision. Anyone who makes the argument about 'militia', really needs to keep up. The individual right was affirmed 11 years ago.

So what. The Constitution still allows for well regulated which you are against. Makes all your use of 'the Constitution is the law' a bit disingenuous.

They pretty much do that already, or even without a gun,, He didn't obey, he was reaching,, over and over and over!! When investigating themselves,, of course they are not going to guilty of anything

I am confused Ithought it was dj who asked for the grenade launcher. Were there posts that were removed? And everyone knew dj was being sarcastic....... and when a woman uses the tiny dick syndrome we all know she has lost the argument before it even began...... because I am pretty sure none of the men here have tiny dicks because we would not be here argueing with so many frustrated angry women This is actually a pretty good indicator that there might be tiny dick guys here. Most of them are the ones who spend all day trolling people online because they can't get laid. Wow, Sure glad I still have a job!

More tiny dick-ness. White guy at a farmer's market, in VA. Open carry allowed.
"One of the vendors called the Police and they came to check on his permit. Which he had. I asked the officer why this was allowed and he said that since VA is an Open Carry State and he had a permit it wasnt against the law. (Even on Govt property outside the building. Which didnt make sense to me because the market is hosted and run by the City of Alexandria for the last 30 years. Its known as a meeting and gathering place for both locals and tourists alike.)
I said to the Officer: So if he starts shooting at people there is nothing you can do?
He said: Oh yes we can arrest him for committing a crime.
And I said: And by then how many people will be dead?
He had no answer for that.

It makes no sense.
I really wonder if this guy was black, brown or was wearing a turban if he would have been treated the same way. What do you think?"

Till the Walmart store manager pulls the fire alarm. Then the liberal media will report that people were fleeing the store because of the guy that was already shopping in there for a while.

In 1962, You could order gun from a mail order catalogs by simply sending a check. there were no background checks, No license required, No restrictions. Almost any one could get a gun. There were zero mass shootings. It is not about the guns, it is about the people!

E-cigarettes and vaping don't cause lung problems; lungs cause lung problems. We don't need less e-cigarettes; we need less bad lungs.

It is not about the guns, it is about the people! oh bullshit. Not even you could be that dense! People are only part of it, and you know it. The easy accessibility to assault weapons is what's making all these mass shootings possible, and so common. I don't believe for a minute that all of a sudden the world is that much more "evil", if you will, with exception of the fact that trump is constantly enlarging the racial divide. That certainly has some of his loser followers trying to "cleanse" the US of people of color.

people strangle others. people push others off high points. People kinda the common denominator here. All of these things won't kill without people!

thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/462085-2017-marked-first-year-firearms-killed-more-people-than-carAmazing that people in states with the higher gun ownership are more suicidal, since (according to one poster, but absolutely not supported by any facts) everyone who has ever tried suicide once, has gone on to die by suicide within a relatively short period of time. I never thought I would see the day that guns kill more people than cars. 85% of adults use a car more than 5 times per week, for an average of 1 hour per day. There are a lot of people driving around in 2-ton death machines.

OC, you and your completely ridiculous arguments need to go. You don't give a fuck about all these innocent people dying in mass shootings. All you care about is your precious guns. All of us are sick of your attitude and sick at the deaths that have occurred in the past, as well as those that will occur in the future because of people like you. No fucking humanity or empathy to be found. Just pure selfishness/ entitlement.

There are a lot of laws around how big passenger vehicles can be. Also, a lot of laws around who can drive than, and under what circumstances. They have to have special licensing and follow a number of safety laws.
