Trolling Trump, Joe Walsh Tries to Recruit George Conway for Nascent ChallengeWASHINGTON — Joe Walsh, a conservative radio show host and a former Tea Party congressman from Illinois who is expected to announce a long shot primary challenge to President Trump in the coming days, is wooing the husband of Kellyanne Conway, Mr. Trump’s former campaign manager, for a senior role in his campaign — a signal of his intent to troll Mr. Trump into engagement with him. Mr. Walsh met on Thursday with George T. Conway III,... Mr. Conway, who has gained a large following on Twitter for his increasingly virulent critiques of Mr. Trump and his mental state but who has never worked on a political campaign before, did not commit to anything, telling Mr. Walsh he would think about it, the two people said. Mr. Walsh has virtually no chance of wresting the Republican presidential nomination away from Mr. Trump, whose poll numbers with Republicans remain consistently in the high-80s. But as a former supporter and media-trained radio show host attacking him from the right, he has an opportunity to rattle Mr. Trump with his television criticisms, and with audacious moves like trying to work with Mr. Conway, whose denunciations have personally enraged the president and his family members. “I think Walsh’s plan to attack Trump for his dishonesty, amorality, instability and incompetence is absolutely the right approach, and I’ll do whatever I can to help,” Mr. Conway said in an interview, though he declined to say whether he would formally join the campaign. I hope to hear a lot of, "I will do similar policy wise and be a decent human being while doing so" from him. Give Republican voters a choice that will meet their policy desires but without the garbage.

I hope to hear a lot of, "I will do similar policy wise and be a decent human being while doing so" from him. Give Republican voters a choice that will meet their policy desires but without the garbage. He was on MSNBC this AM and actually he was listing out the 'true' conservative positions he would take, and which Trump is failing to take. Like reining in the budget (he said he wants to balance the budget, but admitted that will be almost impossible to do anytime soon, thanks to the enormous debt Trump has tacked on), strengthen our ties to NATO (rather than weaken them), and push back on Putin (he said he didn't know what Putin had on Trump, in order to get Trump to be so obedient to him).
Then he apologized for what he did to help Trump get elected, he said he thought Trump would be harmless and might actually get a few things done, but he was completely wrong about that. He says all the GOP congressmen agree with him, but they're too scared of Trump to say any of that out loud.
He's a very long shot, but it will be interesting to see what comes of his run.

...and Trump just keeps lying and lying and lying. He said Macron asked for his permission to invite Javad Zarif to France for talks. Macron denied it, saying he informed Trump he was coming. Then he said he didn't go to the climate change meeting because he had scheduled talks with Germany and India. Germany and India were both at the climate change meeting. The lies just never stop. It's also a pretty sad day when I believe Iran or China over trump. But this is all of trump's own making.

I might have before, and if they ever put forth a decent candidate I might again, but what they are now is beyond ridiculous and pathetic. Get back to the socially moderate, fiscally conservative beliefs of decades ago. Right now they are on the opposite sides of both. Worthless and dangerous.

Trump also claimed Melania was now good friends with Kim Jong Un.
Except that she's never even met the man.
Trump's toady staff, attempting, as always, to explain away the lie, claims that Trump has talked to Melania so much about his dear friend Kim Jong Un that Melania 'feels' as though they are best pals.
Sometimes, I can't even figure out why he bothered to lie - who cares of Melania likes Kim, and vice versa?

He also skipped the Climate Change meeting at the G7 summit, claiming he had an important meeting with Merkle and the head of India.
Except that there is video of the climate change meeting, showing Merkle and the head of India sitting at the table the whole time, and an empty seat where Trump was supposed to be.
In a simpleton follow up, when asked about the meeting he missed, Trump claimed it hadn't happened yet (it had) and that 'I like clean air. I like clean water.' www.cnn.com/2019/08/26/politics/donald-trump-g7-climate-change/index.html

I'm starting to wonder if he has dementia because his reality seems to change by the hour and I am hard pressed to believe someone intentionally lies that much. Maybe we should start screening president's mental capacities if we are going to keep having presidents in their mid to upper 70's. I mean you only need to be 35 for pete's sake. Not that I want someone totally green around the gills I think we've learned our lesson there, but there is a HUGE age range between 35 and 73.

trump was also asked why he skipped the climate change meeting. trump replied it had not yet started, when in actuality, it was already over.

Worthless and dangerous. the GOP was recently called an "anti-federalist insurgency" recently (can't remember by whom).
I think that is largely accurate. they want to destroy the government, not run it.
edit: it might have been Chomsky that said it.

I considered voting Republican in the past then they all went off the deep end catering to the religious right. I have no interest in becoming a theocracy thanks. If a Republican candidate can tell them to take a hike I will happily vote for them.

Yes, after 12 years of Catholic school, including the last 4 at an all boys Jesuit Prep school, the last thing I could tolerate is a Theocracy. The Repo-Cons have been moving in that direction since Reagan lifted the rock.

Barry Goldwater...... did he ever call it....... “Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

You will be spat upon, your property vandalized, you will be barred from the lunch counter, the public square, you will be forced to violate your conscience or lose your business, and you will even be beaten mercilessly and left for dead. So, while I don't like mixing church and state-- we're already doing that. It's just that the religious nutters we're up against don't formally call themselves a religion. Just so you know.
