Note, if you will, the relative size of the buffalo to a car. If you are talking "bull" buffalo, the comparison is closer to a pickup truck. In my 45 years of observation while living here (yes there are buffalo in this part of the world) any, and I do mean any, confrontation between cars/ trucks vs a buffalo always result in the same outcome...…..final score...buffalo 1...…..vehicle zero.....

Kind of reminds me of the reports of herds in the thousands running full throttle with the ground shaking from the 1800's we read about in school. It must have been a grand sight at the time, but scary as heck to the person watching if the herd turned in their direction It looks like a case of herd mentality, where they folow the lead bull, just like the democrats of today in regards to President Trump.

You can get a tiny feel for this if you attend the Buffalo Roundup held each fall in Custer State Park in SD. They have a herd of 1500-2000 animals. There is something unique in the way these animals run. It's almost as if their feet are in unison. The sound is unlike anything else and you can almost feel the ground movement. Just imagine what the sound was when these animals were running in the tens of thousands.

Saw them for first time when in SD some years ago. Awesome animals to say the least.
Guess I should add that I saw my first chipmunk on the same trip plus a rabbit - not sure the name now but think it was protected at one point and now because a problem - Help me out here!! Prairie rabbit maybe
I loved my trip to that part of the country. So different from the Gulf Coast needless to say.

But do remember it being way off and sitting up really tall. Guess I'm going to have to dig thru pictures from trip. I know I put name on digital pic back then. This was almost 13 yrs ago. Old/age memory is getting the best of me sometimes.

Lots of postcards about them If memory serves, there was a lengthy discussion about the Jackalope on another thread. Just don’t remember who started it. But I wasn’t drinking or smoking on my trip so I know this was not the “unknown creature” I saw in Iowa or SD. See I can’t even remember what state I was in

See I can’t even remember what state I was in Downtown Douglas Wyoming......there is a giant statue of the reclusive jackalope. (Ours are bigger, and we keep it a secret so those folks from Arizona don't sneak up here and grab one)

Lots of postcards about them The incidents I have witnessed around here often leave both the elk and the vehicle totaled. With the buffalo. The vehicle is a shattered smoking wreck.....with a by now VERY angry buffalo, standing there daring the folks in the vehicle to "step out" and share "insurance information"

I loved my trip to that part of the country. So different from the Gulf Coast needless to say. It was a jackrabbit, they’re the main one in the prairie region (thus the jackalope reference). Jackrabbits are HUGE and have almost cartoonish like features. I love em.
