Listening to all the talk about gun control after the horror of the mass killings last weekend, I have yet to hear any politician talk about drug control.
How many of these losers/killers are drug users? How many of the politicians that are avoiding any mention of drugs are users themselves?
How many copy-cat people have their brains fried on drugs?
How many states have passed the recreational pot bill? How many people think rec pot is OK? and basically harmless?
My cousin in Colorado does ......... and she is a retired nurse.
These killings are senseless ......... But all they can scream about is gun control. What about controlling the fried brains that pull the trigger.
This makes my heart cry .........

Have you searched for the autopsy reports to see if drugs (or alcohol) were found in the deceased killers? That would be a start to answer your own question(s).

There wasn't a mention of the shooters being on drugs. You would think that would have been a pretty big talking point.

STEP 1: "I have yet to hear any politician talk about drug control." Introduce potential side issue. STEP 2: "How many of these losers/killers are drug users?" Make a connection in the form of a question. STEP 3" "What about controlling the fried brains that pull the trigger." Provide a "solution" based on your potential side issue being an actual issue with any of the recent shooters.
Interesting ... thought? ... process.

How many people think that smoking marijuana makes someone MORE likely to buy an assault rifle, drive 10 hours from home, and start shooting Mexican or brown-skinned people indiscriminately? Flies in the face of all the other claims by conservatives that marijuana use is bad because it makes people lazy and unmotivated.... Doesn't it?

I love watching people who have no clue about pot smokers make up shit.
4 drunk guys will start a fight 4 stoned guys will start a garage band (but never actually do more than talk about it)

The lengths these gun nuts will go to, to blame anything and everything but the real reason for these shootings.....the easy availability of guns. It's the pot! It's the video games! It's the democrats! It's the puppies! Alcohol is far more likely to contribute to violent crime, but I don't hear you calling for another Prohibition. Why is that?

A Common Trait Among Mass Killers: Hatred Toward WomenThe man who shot nine people to death last weekend in Dayton, Ohio, seethed at female classmates and threatened them with violence. The man who massacred 49 people in an Orlando nightclub in 2016 beat his wife while she was pregnant, she told authorities. The man who killed 26 people in a church in Sutherland Springs, Tex., in 2017 had been convicted of domestic violence. His ex-wife said he once told her that he could bury her body where no one would ever find it. The motivations of men who commit mass shootings are often muddled, complex or unknown. But one common thread that connects many of them — other than access to powerful firearms — is a history of hating women, assaulting wives, girlfriends and female family members, or sharing misogynistic views online, researchers say. As the nation grapples with last weekend’s mass shootings and debates new red-flag laws and tighter background checks, some gun control advocates say the role of misogyny in these attacks should be considered in efforts to prevent them. The fact that mass shootings are almost exclusively perpetrated by men is “missing from the national conversation,” said Gov. Gavin Newsom of California on Monday. “Why does it have to be, why is it men, dominantly, always?” Complete article here: A Common Trait Among Mass Killers: Hatred Toward Women

I'm curious as to how long one has to smoke pot before becoming a mass murderer. 1 joint, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year? 10 years? 20 years?

Listening to all the talk about gun control after the horror of the mass killings last weekend, I have yet to hear any politician talk about obesity.
How many of these losers/killers are obese? How many of the politicians that are avoiding any mention of obesity are obese themselves?
How many copy-cat people have their brains fried on refined sugar?
How many states have refused to pass regulations on soda sizes? How many people think a Big Gulp is OK? and basically harmless?
My niece in Idaho does ......... and she is a dental hygenist.
These killings are senseless ......... But all they can scream about is gun control. What about controlling the fat clogged brains that pull the trigger.
This makes my heart cry .........

I've been smoking for close to half a century. Oddly enough, the feelings of murderous and barbaric rampage haven't set in. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

1) I've yet to hear drugs linked to any of the mass murders, but I'll admit I don't keep a dossier on all of them
2) we're still in the midst of war on drugs, and at best it's done nothing at worse it's made everything worse. Still not linked to mass shootings in any way that I know of.

I'm at 35 years & now I'm worried that the next blunt might be the one to turn me into a mass murderer. I'm a daily smoker, so I must just be a ticking time bomb. I should warn everyone around me to be very afraid.

While the factor that enables these shootings is the way too easy availability of guns, the general cause does boil down to hatred. With some, like the El Paso shooter, it is the hatred of others mostly because they are "others." Then as in Dayton, it appears to be hatred of self or their own life turned outward towards those who the shooter feels responsible for his misery. Most shooters are white males. Younger ones in this category are angry at women, frustrated because they can't get a girlfriend and can't get laid. Older ones are angry either because they failed in relationships or in their careers. Both are incapable of seeing their own faults, so hold others responsible and decide those others must pay. The first option in decreasing mass shooting incidents is to control the access to high-capacity guns, obviously. But other things have to happen too. We need to get away from a hatred of others. We need to strongly denounce anyone who promotes such division and hatred, no matter what office they hold. We need to stand up against it no matter where we hear it. And hell, for the second group, legalize prostitution. If letting them pay for sex will prevent them from hating women enough to go on shooting sprees, I'm okay with that. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it. Protects the women too by putting them in safe houses instead of unsafe streets (as well as possibly eliminating trafficking), and allows our police and courts to stop wasting time and effort on what would then actually be a victimless "crime."

I think we also need to change the idea that when all else fails, that shooting people is your constitutional right.

Funny, I never saw that one in the Constitution. That is what the Second Amendment sets up. Are you sure it wasn't in the Declaration? "...that among these are life, liberty, and the ability to shoot anyone who looks at you funny."

Exactly. It would get rid of violent pumps who ply them with drugs. It would eliminate them getting in cars with angry and violent strangers. Make it legal and have them pay taxes, instead of finding them dead on the side of the road or in dumpsters.

Because if I was not allowed to legally own a gun I wouldn't have a gun. But I guess people hell bent on mass murder do not care much about the laws...
