It seems after a Republican State Senator came out against WS the States GOP party wants him to resign from the GOP party...join the Democrats.. His answer to the party was pretty straight but if a few more of these happen around the country, as sad as it is, for me anyway, at last we will have admittance of where members of that party stand regarding race in the country. Possible some of the supporters of the GOP might weigh in with their feelings on this topic...possible even correct my feelings.. ---------------------------------------------------------- "McCollister, a lifelong Republican, made headlines Monday when he condemned members of his party in a series of tweets for failing to speak out against “a Republican president who continually stokes racist fears in his base.” "The Nebraska Republican Party’s executive director, Ryan Hamilton, responded hours later — not by denouncing white supremacy, but by offering to help McCollister register as a Democrat." "We have a Republican president who continually stokes racist fears in his base. He calls certain countries ‘sh*tholes,’ tells women of color to ‘go back’ to where they came from and lies more than he tells the truth.” “When the history books are written, I refuse to be someone who said nothing,” he said. ---------------------------------------------------------- Now if only some of our nationally elected Senators would feel and say words similar to this State Senator...that would show some hope for the country and for the GOP party too...Personally I feel the longer there is silence from the national GOP...the party resembles the more and more the fate of the Captain of the Titanic in his cabin as the ship sank to the bottom...and we know, forgetting the film..that ship never rose again....and the Captain was never heard from again. www.yahoo.com/news/nebraska-republican-party-john-mccollister-213137432.html

forgive my cynicism, but politics is rarely about what it should be. it is rarely about policy.
at some level, Democrats know it. they just have a tendency to let their better angels get the best of them.
which is why they are out of power.

Sounds to me like they are a bunch of chickens who are afraid of the backlash of the bully in chief. They have to stand against anyone who stands against him, or their lunch money will be gone.

Or they just don’t see trumps antics the way you do.
Some countries are truly awful places, filled with people who may not be a good fit for western society. Using colorful language to express that sentiment doesn’t automatically mean the person saying it is racist.
We have a large number of poorly educated people in this country and not enough good jobs for them. Importing a bunch of poorly educated people from Third World countries has driven down the wages for jobs that are less educated country men can get. This makes up for mobility or difficult for our fellow citizens. Having millions of people pouring into this country who haven’t been vetted is an obvious security risk, Both for crime and terrorism. If 30% of the women and girls who are coming into this country are being raped on the way here, then it’s safe to say that some of the guys coming with them are indeed rapists. These are all good reasons to want to secure our borders. And in some cases, depending on the geography, walls are incredibly effective. Being against de facto open borders does not make a person racist.
It’s perfectly normal to feel complete disgust towards a group of guys who repeatedly kill people in a particularly violent ways and mutilate the bodies. Calling people who choose to behave that way nasty names does not automatically make the person racist.

Using colorful language to express that sentiment doesn’t automatically mean the person saying it is racist. I was talking with my (black) girlfriend about this, this weekend. she said something I had kinda thought of, but not been able to articulate:
"Using racist language doesn't make you a racist. KNOWING that you are using racist language makes you a racist".
now, even that is not entirely true. you could know that you are using racist language and just be a shill. but for me, I expect my president to KNOW. so, he is either selling the language of racists to win votes (which is horrific) or a racist (which is horrific).
you choose.

A black person on Facebook said "Racists gotta race" - I thought that was super funny.
