can we have a law where you can keep your guns, and buy new guns, but you have to take a little test and get a license.
We already do that, I bought a new gun a little over a month ago, went thru a complete background check. The license, My driver license.
A driver's license says you know the rules for driving a car and you are proficient in those skills. A gun license would say that you know the safety rules of owning a gun. Would a CCW work??

Wouldn't it be ironic that after all the years of "President Obama is going to take your guns" that President Trump and Mitch McConnell are the ones that pass gun laws? Appearing outside the White House, Trump said that meetings in recent days have already yielded strong congressional support for "very meaningful background checks" and that his party, which has stymied gun-control efforts this year by Democrats, would take the lead in passing new legislation after returning from an August recess. "I think Republicans are going to be great and lead the charge, along with the Democrats," Trump told reporters shortly before departing for campaign fundraisers in New York. The president said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who has refused to allow his chamber to consider House-passed bills strengthening background checks, was now "totally on board" after a conversation between the two men. www.arkansasonline.com/news/2019/aug/10/for-gun-bill-trump-confident-on-his-swa/

Amazing, the number of times Trump embellished on a story, was called out for everything
from misquote to complete misrepresentations that suddenly you now seem to believe that he is for gun control.

Yes. The banning of semi-automatic weapons. Handguns and hunting rifles remain legal. Someone wishing to kill a bunch of people will have to keep on having to reload. This gives others time to take the person down and disarm.

Check with President Trump and Mitch McConnell. They are going to pass these new gun regulations. You still going to support President Trump?

Maybe they're not against it. Their ratings are quite high. That is what I was thinking, hence the question of why conservatives are pushing for red flag laws when it seems that is exactly what they don't want. I don't think anyone would want their neighbors reporting on them in that type of fashion. Unless your neighbor has a PhD in psych, and your his patient.

Check with President Trump and Mitch McConnell. They are going to pass these new gun regulations. You still going to support President Trump? The new laws are going to be as effective as the bump stock law,
99% of us gun owner did not know about bump stocks or care bump stocks, the law only a feel good measure the the Liberals thought was a huge win, when it was nothing. After Las Vegas, I thought about buying one, the only reason was to piss off the Anti Gun crowd! But they passed a law against, So I saved so money, after all I am one of those law biding Americans, that won't do something against the law,, But then again Laws mean nothing to criminals,, So pass away it is not going to make any difference to those that are going to do the shooting!!

Poison is already outlawed. Anthrax for example. That's going to stop some one,, murder is outlawed too.. It actually stops a lot of people since they can't get their hands on it. But you're first point was claiming that other deadly weapons aren't outlawed and I am pointing out that they are.

I have a next door neighbor who is 15 and has some mental health issues. I'm not a psychologist but the kid creeps me the hell out and I always say that one day I can see him being a mass shooter. He already is getting services (I only know that because our mailman put a bill from a mental health agency in my mailbox), which only confirmed my gut instinct. This is someone that should not own a gun. If I knew how to make sure he never got a gun license I would be all over it

I'm still baffled by what kind of person thinks their "best self" is Internet troll? It's one thing to have nothing of value to contribute, but to actively try to f*** thinks up for everyone else is another level of pathetic.

To me, this is the problem with red flag laws. Without a qualification protocol in place, it's a small next step to using them as they are not intended. I hope he gets the care he needs, in regards to the professional services you say he is getting.

I hope he gets the care he needs, in regards to the professional services you say he is getting. he has been in therapy for years (his mother told me that, after the little fucker shot out my window with a bb gun). He is definitely "off" and I fear that he is the type that would go shooting up a school. He is also a kid that I'm sure gets picked on because he is weird (don't know how else to describe it). He never leaves his house, except to go to school. If there is someone that I could see walking into his school and shooting it up, it would be this kid. He also got into his mom's car, put it in reverse and plowed into the house across the street...which just so happens to be the Chief of Police's house. The kid has problems to the point that I have considered moving because I don't want to be on the receiving end when he finally snaps. So yes, I strongly believe he should not own a gun and certainly not a semi-automatic. His mother is also an idiot because she bought a BB gun for his younger brother, which then gave him access to it. I pray they don't have actual guns in the house.

Has anyone else heard this? Was it a reason to kill her? Dayton shooter Connor Betts’ slain sister was a transgender man: report
The “sister” of the Dayton, Ohio, shooter who was killed during the attack identified as a transgender guy — although his family had no idea, according to a report and some of his own social media posts. Connor Betts’ 22-year-old sibling was named by authorities as Megan Betts in the days after the mass shooting, with cops releasing a statement saying relatives had lost “a daughter.” But he apparently went by the name Jordan Cofer, and identified as a male, although he was only “out” to a small circle of friends, according to Splinter News, which spoke to several of those pals anonymously. “Jordan was my closest friend,” one pal told the outlet. “He identified with he/him pronouns to people he trusted and knew would support him. Jordan was probably one of the sweetest people you would ever meet, a true saint, but he was also very scared constantly. He tried to give the best to everyone.” One of his friends also confirmed to The Post: “I did know that he was indeed a trans man.” Article here Dayton shooter Connor Betts’ slain sister was a transgender man: report

Someone on a podcast said he had a rifle which was more like a sniper's and indicated he may have been after a single person, instead of a random shooting of anyone and everyone in the area. (Asterisk on all information because I can't recall my sources). I believe that hatred of transgenders, along with embarrassment that it was a family member would be enough to push SOME people over the edge.
