Baltimore city isn't in Baltimore county. It sounds like the properties are in Baltimore county, but I could have misunderstood.

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said local officials had to threaten sanctions to get Kushner Companies to address necessary repairs. The county withheld U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rental payments at nine of the company's properties and issued $3,500 in fines. Yes, likely in Baltimore Co. rather than in Baltimore proper....but that doesn't change the facts of the article...RATS!

According to an article in today's Washington Post - Kushner owns lots of Baltimore-area apartments. Some are infested with mice. - there was an article earlier this year in the Baltimore Sun pointing out that Kushner has owned almost 9,000 rental units across 17 complexes, many of them in Baltimore County. I especially liked this sentence from the article: "A private investigator who looked into Kushner’s property management company, Westminster Management, described the managers as “slumlords.”"

SatireGovernment Housing Structure Infested with Criminals and RatsBy Andy Borowitz WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—A government-subsidized housing structure has fallen into a dangerous state and has become thoroughly infested with criminals and rats, a leading congressman warned on Saturday. The building has become “the territory of vicious gangsters who roam freely and consider themselves above the law,” Representative Elijah Cummings, a Democrat of Maryland, said. The congressman added that notorious gang members took over the housing facility in early 2017 and have “spread terror and despair” there ever since. “People are scared to be there,” Cummings said. “Hundreds have fled.” He said that the horrific conditions within the housing complex are one of the nation’s worst-kept secrets. “Many of the people who have fled over the past two years have written books about it,” he said. “But the criminals continue to run wild.” Complete article here: Government Housing Structure Infested with Criminals and Rats

I've had the misfortune of getting food poisoning from a restaurant. No way would I eat a meal at any property with the Trump name. I've seen those reports on their failed inspections. I'm frankly not surprised if Kushner's properties aren't up to code, either. You know what they say: birds of a feather...

Well, that was quick. I'll clue you in to what a bullshit penny ante operation HUD is-- we had one house- one (1) that was cleared for Section 8 rental through hud. We had 9 violations on the first inspection. An example of something we got flagged for- the wooden shelves in the pantry, the cabinets, and the drawers (3 separate items- 3 "violations") must, according to HUD, have had "contact paper" on them. No, seriously- that shit you haven't even seen since your great grandmother passed in 1974. That stuff. So, if he owns 13 apartment complexes-- complexes. Not like a 13 unit-- complexes-- and they've had 713 "failures" on 701 units-- that's pretty good. And there's absolutely nothing contradictory about the statement that the firm is in compliance with all state and local laws and there being "failures" noted on HUD-supported units. HUD is a government program- compliance is required to participate in the program. There's no state or federal law that is violated when a unit owner is out of compliance with that particular program. I never did put that contact paper in. I tossed the entire list in the trash and never gave it a second thought. Held the property for another 15 months and then decided that participating in the HUD program failed my own test- I was out of compliance with my principles. Got out- and have stayed out.
