I was going to buy a Kindle Paperwhite, but the reviews complain of a battery problem. I hate battery life problems. I am on my second paperwhite. My first one is either the first or second generation. The battery life started diminishing this year, where I went from a 6 week charge to a week. It had been well used about 6-7 years. I replaced it a few months ago, and am now back to a 6 week battery charge. However, it is most important to keep the WiFi turned off. The WiFi eats the charge faster than anything. What I do is turn on the WiFi when I am charging. When I get a full charge, I turn WiFi off.

tried to do some in-person shopping tonight but struck out badly. came home and placed online orders at both places. if I don't love any of the items, they will be getting returned. all are items I didn't necessarily NEED, but will make my life easier in looking presentable this summer.
Old Navy (50% off everything) - 2 pairs of chino shorts and 2 sleeveless jersey "swing" dresses, $54.
DSW (20% off everything, 2x points today): $63 1 pair wedge sandals for work 1 small cross-body purse for when I need a little more space than my wallet phone case, but not quite a huge purse 1 beach blanket freebie w/min. purchase

Hmmm... I didn't realize that Kindle Unlimited was on sale. Three months free also, which doesn't show on the link above.
I've ordered: chinos for DH shoes for DH a cardigan for me a blouse for me shampoo for DH body wash for DH
All stuff we would have ordered at some point this summer anyway. The shoes are the Adidas he wears constantly, and he gets a new pair every six months or so. They were 50% off. That's better than the outlet store prices. I probably should have ordered two pairs.

Nothing. Don't have a Prime membership, have no plans to buy one. I'm not in "acquisition mode" anymore. I save a ton of money that way. My YTD spending on clothing is still at $13- a pack of socks from Costco.

I've bought wireless headphones for the gym, 2 card game expansion packs and transfer tape for vinyl crafts.
I do have a list of things we need currently. I'm not finding them on any of the stores sites. Target had DH's Vitamin D but not in our store and I'm thinking gummies wouldn't survive shipping in July.

Not a darn thing. I'm currently like the people on the airplane when the flight attendant tells us to put our mask on first. Well, I've put my mask on first and my financial situation comes firs.t Amazon and a few other places are in the back of my line. My situation comes first.

Just bought dog treats that I always buy for my dog, for about $4 less than I usually pay. Tried to order multiple, but I could not get it to work, and now it is expired. Oh well.

In addition to the first two items mentioned earlier, I ordered stickers for DGD and I to play with, a pillow insert for a pillow cover I had previously gotten for my other DGD and some Glucosimine Chondoitin for DH and I. That’s all I’m getting, unless I see something else we need.

Have you never flown? put on your mask before to attempt to help others. Yes, I get that and choosing not to spend frivolously. But buying things you need, use, value (and can afford) on a sale isn't that.

Contemplating Kindle Unlimited membership I would tell you to save your money. I'm a book lover and thought a Kindle Unlimited membership would be the best thing EVER but I was so disappointed, a lot of the stuff there is self published junk and the rest was stuff I got get from my local library for free.

I was fairly disappointed as well. My DH got me a discounted membership 2 years ago or so from a Prime Day deal. Most of the stuff I wanted was not available. The only decent thing I remember is re-reading the Hunger Games series which I wanted to do.

I agree . I don’t think it’s worth the money . I had it for a few months but didn’t really like the selections available .

Nothing. I only bought from Amazon once, and was horrified at the amount of packaging. Yeah, I find myself wondering how many trees are killed for all the boxes that will go out for the orders over the next 2 days, and how much fossil fuel will be burned delivering it all- just saw an Amazon Prime truck in my neighborhood a couple of hours ago. They seem to use only a few standard sized boxes, probably to stack in the trucks more easily, so many items end up in boxes 5 times the size they need to be. If an order gets split up and shipped separately, it means more boxes.

I just purchased a 64 oz glass pitcher with a strainer at the top and a lid. DH has been wanting one for a while, but I've struggled with what to get. This one seems to be what we want. It was 25% off.

It came in plastic bubble wrap, then a box that was wrapped in plastic, then another box that was wrapped in plastic. It was ridiculous. They could have sent it in an envelope. A WIRE.

My wife was looking for “toys” but we don’t have any small kids at home, so I’m not sure what she was buying, but it might be a fun weekend 🙂

Yeah, some years ago I received stuff with crazy packaging, but the packaging seems pretty minimal these days.

So, they call it "unlimited" but they don't make their whole library available to you? That stinks. I saw a lot of posts on Early Retirement from people who were buying new Kindles because the old ones died or the battery life shortened significantly. Not exactly a ringing endorsement but I suppose once you've paid to download titles you need a Kindle or they go away. I think I'll stick with the public library!

You are right about you need a Kindle, but only sort of. If you have any type of device from a desktop to a laptop to a phone, you can "read" the books you bought. So it doesn't have to be a Kindle. I read more books on the school's Ipad when I had one than on my Kindle. But, yeah, now I remember that last year you could get three months of Kindle Unlimited for some ridiculously low price (maybe 99 cents?), and I read zero books on there. They had none of my favorite authors, and I was much too busy to look for new favorites. It might be different this year now that I am retired, but I have 400+ books on my Kindle already. I actually listed that as one of my goals when I was retiring. People would ask, "But what are you planning to do?" I would say, "Read all the books on my Kindle."

Well, at 3 am I bought hanging file folders for something like $8.88. I bought a phone case for $11.19, but I cancelled it and re-bought it b/c it was at 9.99? I bought 12 rolls of Cottonelle TP for $6.02. I tried to buy Norton Anti virus for 5 devices for $24.99 but it looks like it is hung up? They said it will take 4 hours to be cleared from the bank.
I see K-9 Advantrix for Dogs 6 doses for 43.44. Is that a good deal? Last time I bought at Walmart, I thought it was less, but I maybe only got 3 doses.
bean29 when I bought my 2nd laptop 2 months ago they had a sale on McAfee LiveSafe for $5 per card (retail was $99.99). I have a couple left that I can sell you for $5. It is only good for a year once activated, but I bought 3 extras cuz it was a great deal.

I don't have a Kindle itself, but I read the books through the Kindle app on my iPhone or iPad (mostly iPhone).
