I feel like I should have taken the day off work. I'm dead tired. The baseball game was really slow and the fireworks didn't go until almost midnight after we'd sweated our guts off for 6 hours (in the shade). I went to bed just before 1 right when I got home, and like clockwork the pups got me up at 6 (after I ignored them for a bit). There aren't many people at work today and I am working from home too and I decided I'll knock off at 4.

We BBQed bratwurst for lunch with DS#1 and Miss Grandbaby. Then we had hamburgers at my BIL’s. Their neighborhood has its own fire works show, and we stayed for that. It was a full thirty minutes.

I took the high road, brought food and drink to share, helped set up and clean up, made pleasant small talk, ignored some snarkiness, and left before any real ugly stuff began. Sadly, alcohol plays a factor in this relative’s bad behavior so it was only a matter of time. *I* can’t fix this person. I can only control the amount of time I’m with them, which I did. It was nice to see some of the other attendees, so I managed to have a nice time, too!
