a) My friends don't post much, and what they do post is mostly links to articles that I don't want to read
b) Because of their algorithm, they suggest the same kind of stuff to me over and over, which gets repetitive, but now they are actually giving me the same links time and time again. I guess I'm stupid enough to click on it once, maybe I will read it 12 times.
c) I get notifications that there are new posts, but they aren't new. I read that post already, and I cleared the notification.
And, the Tapatalk app does the same thing. No, there isn't a new post on that thread, it was 36 hours ago, and not only have I already read it, but this is the third time I've click through the notification to see someone's brilliant statement, but it was the same dumb thing I already read. And half the time, it was me that wrote it! Thanks TT for notifying me that yesterday I wrote something.
So, social media is not interesting. What else should I do online?

How about 'Snoozing' for thirty days those you don't want to read. Or simply unfollow them. That does not mean you unfriend them. You just don't see them anymore.

I deleted my facebook acct. shortly after I signed up. I don't need that in my life, I have enough things that annoy me without it.

I would like a shrink post for the ones I've already read so I don't have to scroll through them. I like it when my family posts come up. A lot of the time it's other stuff. I have friends that I don't follow because I don't want to see their posts. I like the message function. I would like to be able to find the groups that I am in so I can send the group a message. I just wait until they message. I use an alias. The most interesting FB group I am in is from our old rural neighborhood. Things have changed so much that it's ruined it. There are a lot more users of the area. They are approaching the county commissioners monthly to repair damage to public picnic shelters. Some damage is from 2012. Anyhow, they are very entertaining. I had suggested a volunteer group to do various projects to help neighbors and was called a communist. The residents later went on to clean up a burned out cabin that the leasee couldn't not do because of a ton of kids and being out of state. The group helps each other with covenants, where to find property lines and what not.

My "friends" aren't really the problem. It is the promoted stuff that is repetative and boring. My friends are boring too - but I can accept that.

I got so PO'd with crap going on with FB that I fired off a post about FFB and I used that three or four times and someone asked me what the extra F stood for I think he asked with tongue in cheek though. Most of the crap I get is from folks I have been online with since the 90's and don't know them in RL but I hide a lot of post and have unfollowed a few for a while. I do keep it open to check on out of town friends but also belong to "private groups" with some so avoid all the drama. But every now and then I just HATE FFB

I dropped Facebook over a year ago and people actually have to text me their news.
Best decision ever

You can go into Facebook's ad preferences and delete all the preferences they've picked for you. Then it should be varied at least for a little while.

FB seems to think I care about Britney Spears.
She's fighting her dad about the conservatorship, a recent picture was photoshopped to make her look fat, here is her rocking beach bod, here she is on vacation with her boyfriend. I don't freakin' care.

On the computer, I use Social Fixer and see very few ad or irrelevant posts. I have filtered out most of the things I don't want to hear about. It makes it tolerable.
Social Fixer doesn't work on phones so if I get on it there, I see all that crap.
