I like to watch cop shows. Live PD, Cops etc. It always amazes me how many people the police stop do not carry any identification. I always carry my ID but then of course I'm not up to no good or wanted for anything. Do you ever not carry your ID?

Only if I’m on my property. Otherwise I always have ID, phone, keys, a credit card, blank check and some cash on me. I may be slightly paranoid, or too independent in that if I get fed up with the people I’m with (or vice versa!) I’ll always have means to get home or elsewhere without them.

Usually my ID is in the car, unless I'm shopping and have my pocketbook. So if I collapse in the park or at the beach, they'd have to find my car to figure out who I am. I always have my phone with me.

Always have ID, at my age and health problems you never know so more careful about that anymore. I try to remember my phone but am bad about forgetting it.

I go on a walk around the neighborhood almost every day with no ID and no money. Or if I go walking at the C&O canal I leave it in the car and just have my keys with me. The only time it has been an issue was when I caught a stray dog about a mile from the house and had no way to call animal control (it had run into a busy main road). The dog's owner eventually showed up while I was still trying to figure out what to do.
My husband will occasionally leave his wallet at home when we go out to dinner and shopping, which to me seems a lot more risky. I at least only do it when I am able to get back home on my own two feet.

My ID is in my billfold. If I leave the house by car or take my purse, I have my ID.

No. I live in a very small town. Everyone knows who I am. But seriously, if I go for a walk, I usually have my key fob to open the car door and my cell phone. And I only have the phone for the fitness app on it. If I go for a bike ride, cell phone only. I figure if I pass out, at least one of the cops who responds will know me. Or when I get to the hospital, they will definitely know me there.

I had to think about this for a minute. Anytime I am going in my car, I have my license on me. In fact, I usually never go anywhere without my purse even if I am not driving.
If I am out walking then I do not have a purse or license with me but I always have my phone on me. Not sure what good that would do since it is password protected...can the police get into it? I haven't a clue

If I'm doing something where I'm not expecting to pay for anything and am not driving most of the time I probably don't have my ID. That doesn't happen super often, but it does.

I always have my wallet on me except when running. Then I wear an id bracelet with my name, address, phone number and blood type.

I don't even have my ID on me now but I have a picture of it on my phone which could be easily verified in any law enforcement computer in any squad car.

I like to watch those shows too, and I always think the same thing you do. Another thing that surprises me is how many people drive without a valid driver's license. It boggles my mind! I rarely go anywhere without my purse and id. Well, except to take the garbage out and things of that nature.

It depends on if I take my "wallet" with me or not... and generally I'm going somewhere that will require I have something from my wallet when I get there - so I almost always have some form of ID on me. There are times when I walk to one of the local Fast Food places for take out - and I'll just grab cash and go... so no official ID. What are you considering ID? My name written in my sneakers? The bracelet I have with my name etched on the back of it? Hmmm, What can you use for ID other than your Driver's License (or state ID card)? Can you have more than one official ID card? Having an photo ID card that wasn't a driver's license would be useful for me...I'd have my 'everyday wallet"' with CC's and money in it - and then I'd have a "running out for a slice of Pizza" "wallet" with $10 and my picture ID.

Do you all not 'lock' your cell phone? My cell phone is relatively useless for an ID, unless you unlock it with the password. I didn't set up an "ICE" thing in my contacts - cause if you have my phone but no password you aren't gonna get to my contacts. The phone "logs out" after a minute or two - so there's not much of a window for it to be open and unattended.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong? Is there some something on the phone that will display a "I belong to Your Name Here" even if it's locked?

Unless your phone dies, or you're unconscious or something and can't tell or show them. That would suck. Iphones have a health ID that can be read even in locked mode that can include things like insurance, health, emergency contacts in case a person is incapacitated. I mean your wallet can be lost as well, besides tattooing it on your body there is really no surefire way.

I usually have my ID and a credit card in my cell phone, unless one of the kids pulls them out and I can't track them down in time. DD put them in a speaker once and it took me a few days to track it. Sometimes when going somewhere with DH I forget to grab my phone and don't worry about it because he can drive and pay for things. I'd say 99% of the time I carry it though.

Only if I have my purse with me, though that is most of the time. My phone may or may not be in my purse since I keep forgetting that thing all over the place

I know a number of runners that use an app that allows them to have their name, emergency contacts names and phone numbers, insurance info and any allergies displayed on their lock screen. Or you can mock up something on your own and save it as a picture for your lock screen.

I'd like to add, in the rare instances I don't carry my ID, it's because I don't plan to drive, drink alcohol, or pay for something with a card. It has nothing to do with any nefarious intentions.

I frequently walk the dog without carrying my wallet or cell phone.
Not surprisingly, I also fantasize about running into a cop that demands ID and telling him that I don't have any but my dog can vouch for me if you just take the time to examine the tags on his collar.
I seriously hate having to carry a pass.

Yes, I always carry the darn thing around! And, yes, I always lock the vehicle doors. But, not always the house...…...This is small town Wyoming. Very probably one could break into a parked car and not be shot (most of us don't live in our cars so they are likely to be unoccupied) Very, very, seldom does one break into any house around here

I usually have my Medicare card, debit card and drivers licence on me. I'm going for a walk later, so I'll at least have my Medicare card. If I get hit by a car, all my medical info is on there.

Just to be clear, Medicare here is not the same as Medicare there. The card identifies me as a Canadian citizen who is entitled to healthcare with no out of pocket expenses. It also lets first responders know which is my regular hospital, who my doctors are and any allergies.
