I used to give standardized tests like the ACT and SAT on Saturdays. I could still do that since I've retired, but I really have pretty much stopped. They really want you to do the timing, etc. on a smart phone app, and I don't have a smart phone. It was a couple of hundred dollars a month. I usually added it to savings somewhere.
I plan to do some substituting if DH gets where I can leave him for that long. He's fine by himself, but he has trouble with the three steps off the porch when it comes time to walk the dog. If I do manage to sub, I will save it. After I quit retail as a second job, I was determined to live only on one salary.

You don't need a smart phone to do it. What you can do is to ask for the laptop or notebook from the school and run the app from there. Or supply your own laptop. I powered off my own phone during the test since I did not want it to be a distraction to the students. I hope to do be able to do ACT testing on a regular basis too. It is a good gig

I've been doing some grant writing for a local organization. Pay is $50/hr but I don't think it's fair to 'surprise' them afterward so I let them know it's going to take X hours and then bill afterward. Of course, the first time I completely underestimated the amount of time it would take and ended up making only about $10/hr .

I play the organ for my church about once a month. It's $100 for one service; involves a few hours of planning and practice but is most enjoyable.

I have several "side hustles". I used to edit but unfortunately that dried up years ago. DH's "side hustle" is translations. The job was actually offered to me but I "gave" it to DH because I hate doing translations, I don't have the patience for it. I do proof/edit DH's translations. My "side hustles" are related to my jobs. I go back last week of Aug (instead of first week of Sept) to do "catch up" classes for transfer students for Job 1 (my main job). I work a LOT of extra hours in May/June/July doing interviews for prospective students for Job 1 and Job 2. That's actually how Job 2 hired me to teach. Job 3 is standardized testing in May/June for an ESL organisation. Every year I say I'm quitting Job 3, and every year I do just enough to keep my certifications current. (I lost 1 certification, but still have 3). I also occasionally coach students/adults for college/job interviews. But that's relatively rare.
I used to tutor but that dried up too. I'm happy to tutor HS or college but since I feel obliged to "see them through", I will no longer tutor primary or MS, and that's where most of the demand is these days.

I was just posting about this in the job search thread the past week or so. I'm about to close on a gig for my side work, aka, Rukh, Inc. Going over my previous paperwork to prepare for this one, last time I had one was 3 years ago. This new one might be recurring, and may grow in scope, but for now, a very small project. I might be emboldened to try to get some visibility now that I am only working one job, and boss cleared me of any conflicts of interest for this one. Currently, the two gigs were via word of mouth - someone I know has someone ask them - do you know anyone who.....and my name is given. Not sure what I would do outside of a website and maybe a phone number? Maybe I will think about that for 2020. I'm charging 250/hour which I believe is market rate for this type of work. PhD and very specific experience is required, which is why rate is on the higher side. I'd like to develop this to the point of working 10-20 hours a month for semi-retirement.

I've always wanted to start an etsy store. Time is a factor...but I think an opportunity just presented itself. Now I have to see if it's financially worth it to broker a deal for someone else to take care of the business end for a cut.

I bake to order, breads, quiches, scones, cookies, cakes, pies, stromboli; small catering for showers and large parties. I offer only privately, so have a lot of control over customer base. So far this year I've made about $1500. Based on last year I expect to make another $2000 - $2500 through the end of the year, due to holidays.
It's a good outlet for me. Not a huge amount of money but enough to make a dent in some expenses.

I've figured it out! The absolute easiest way to make money on the side! I'll enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. I don't know why I never thought of this before.
$1,000 per day for the rest of my life.
Easy, peasy. I might as well start spending my money now.

I FINALLY gave up Job 3!!! I told them I couldn't do it next year (spring 2020). They were really sweet, told me they'd miss me, etc. SUCH A RELIEF!!! Two weeks later I was offered 30 additional hours at Job 2. Also, I forgot about Job 4, which is doing DH's accounting on Quickbooks. That has been a HUGE learning curve for me! So doing DH's Quickbooks is now my Job 3 instead of my Job 4.
