So fabulous opportunity may be coming my way to do some side work with a top tier client from oldcompany. This was not a former client of mine but former coworker is giving my name to them for a relatively small job, which may be occurring every year.
So oldco used to change 250/hr for my work, I charged 125/hr for previous freelancing, but that was lower tier work and I think that was a good price for both parties.
For this work, it is the higher level. Meanwhile, in my current position We use a lot of consultants in addition to inhouse staff, and oldco was really quite a bargain! These other venues are 2-5 times the price!
So, I was planning on pricing this out using 250/hour. Thoughts?
Noting I super want to do this!!! I want the prestige of working with this group. I could price it lower. But I can't see a cheaper option available for them, project is likely too small for most companies to want to take on, and the 250 seems underpriced as it is.
Thanks for any input!!

Do it! Just present it as: My hourly rate is $250/hr. I think this project will take X hours. When I have approached 75% of billed hours, I will contact you with an update on where we stand vs. estimate. I will provide 1 round of free revisions, to total no more than Y hours. Further revisions are negotiable at regularly hourly rate.

Does your current contract allow you to freelance?

Looks like they decided on a larger company for this, I never heard from them . I'm ok with that, just a wee bit disappointed.
