You know what ages people? A 24 hour a day job for 4 years... it isn’t for the old, even the oldish, sorry. Every President who has treated the job as the job should be treated as aged remarkably during their time in office. Every single one of them. They each knew they had the weight of the world on their shoulders. It's not a job for an older person. It's not a job for a person who doesn't understand that running the government is not like running a business.

I like your thoughts, but I believe no one over say over 72 yrs of age should be in Congress. I know that is an arbitrary number, but the fact is people over 70 are simply starting to slow down mentally and physically. Was watching Biden yesterday at the two rallies. I was shocked at his performances. He has slowed down. Maybe he is mentally fine, but his two recent flipflops make Kerry's flipflops look really good right about now. He looked old and acted it for the most part, and that makes him unacceptable as a President. Sanders at least has the fire for the position, and seems to be on top of his game, although he is way too left for me, and probably is way too influenced by his wife's political leanings..... I agree about the prescription situation. It is a mess that can be fixed if Congress was not in the back pocket of pharma. You (and me) are only a couple of years from your arbitrary age of 72. When you reach 72, get back to us (as I will) and tell us about your mental faculty and its ability. ETA: trump is 72 years old. Quite frankly, here are my thoughts on voting ages. I would prefer voting be limited to an age level of being 20 or 21yrs old to vote. Eighteen is too young and the brain is not fully mentally functional at this age. I also believe anyone over 80 should not vote. We are too old at that time, and mentally become possibly too cranky in nature, and think back to the good old days rather than the future, and as in age 18 the brain is not fully functional or totally rational any longer. As far as the Presidency, some Presidents are still way ahead of the game at the age of 72, others not so much and at least we know they are limited to a max of eight years in office, and have the ability to vote no to a second term.

Dad is 95. The last two elections, I filled out his absentee ballot and he signed it.
In 2018, he knew who he wanted to vote for for President. No idea on any other race.
In 2020, he wanted to vote for a long ago Governor who wasn't on the ballot.
So he voted the way I wanted him to vote, not that it did any good.

That means I can make my parents vote Democrat against their will! Revenge for all the chores.... (Just kidding, my sister will help them vote and write in Mike Pence for every race.)

Dad insisted he did not want to vote for Trump. He didn't and that was at his direction.
Otherwise, he voted straight Blue for the first time in his life.
In this state, our two votes combined didn't matter. Red Governor, red Senators and red in both houses of legislature.
We did help elect a blue member to the House of Representatives. He had never heard of her.
He does hate all the election calls because he can't hear them.

The ugliness scares me. Over two days I saw two memes on FB basically saying, "Any candidate from the X party is better than EVERY candidate from the Y party". No, no no! There are wing nuts on both sides. Do your research instead of voting based on a knee-jerk reaction against one party or person.
My son also made the observation that both sides highlight the extreme behavior of the other side and use that to attack them. EG a politician is found guilty of something awful and that means his/her entire party is corrupt.
And there's so much crap mindlessly "shared" on FB because it fits with the views of the person who reposted it- even if it's totally wrong. I've fact-checked things and responded when there are genuine errors but of course only my own FB contacts see that and it continues to get shared by others.
I'll do what I always do: a few days before the election I get a sample ballot, research the candidates and issues, and make my decisions. Then I vote.

I'll do what I always do: a few days before the election I get a sample ballot, research the candidates and issues, and make my decisions. Then I vote. I am bored/done/over Facebook, I am not quite sure why it is, but I have been checking in to see what used furniture is being sold in my area, and paying less and less attention to what people are posting. I really don't care too much about everyone else's father's day. We did our thing with our family, and that was all I cared about. Maybe I am turning into a B in my old age. I check twitter occasionally, but still don't "get" how to use it, and I don't use Instagram.
I always try to get a copy of the ballot and check out the individuals on the ballot. The hard ones are the local elections like school board where there are lots of people running. I feel that sometimes, being a parent of a child with learning disabilities or other special needs might be a good qualification for school board, but we also want people with legal/accounting/business backgrounds - so I am always looking for all the info I can get on the candidates.
