I am not going to get on board with impeachment. President Trump needs to be rejected by the voters in November 2020, or not.

Why waste time on impeachment proceedings? The general election is a little over a year away and there is no way it will ever pass both houses in that period of time.
Congress has more important things to think about. I wonder what Dems don't want to deal with to even think about impeachment.

Why waste time on impeachment proceedings? The general election is a little over a year away and there is no way it will ever pass both houses in that period of time. ... October 5, 1998: On a 21-16 vote, the House Judiciary Committee recommends a full impeachment inquiry. February 12, 1999: President Clinton is acquitted of the two articles of impeachment. link There was time for Clinton's.

I am not going to get on board with impeachment. President Trump needs to be rejected by the voters in November 2020, or not. we can reject him all we want, but won't do any good if our elections are not secure. We know without a doubt that our voting machines in Georgia are NOT secure, can easily be hacked & then add in voter suppression/gerrymandering. Rejecting him won't work with no actions on securing our elections. The majority of American's rejected him last time.

Round 1 in the courts went to the voters. There still may be time to force them to do paper ballots here. I know they will claim there isn't time, but how long can it take once the candidates are known? Our machines have NO back up...no way for a recount to be done. You stick a card into the machine make your choices and it only prints out totals of all votes cast for each different opening...it's like a cash register receipt. NO way on earth to back anything up.

How can they not start impeachment hearings? Seriously? How can we set precedent that his actions are ok?!

Frankly you don’t know what will happen until after public hearings. Right now precedent is being set that the president can do whatever the fuck he wants, ignore subpoenas from the legislative and judicial branches, use the DOJ as his private attack dog and cover up team, break traditions and laws and basically be a fucking autocrat. Without opposition.
The republic is crumbling and no no one gives a shit. You think the next election will be fair? They won’t acknowledge that Russia was a problem last time, not to mention other issues... McConnell keeps blocking safe election legislation... like he blocks everything.
You think Republican ‘leadership’ would be setting these precedents if they were going to allow fair elections?

Perhaps with all these tariffs and likely none of his agreements getting approved. And with kim imploding, trump hasn't mentioned his love for him for a few days that it could all implode. It will take something really really dramatic to change some of the repub supporters. All they want is religion in politics and no abortion. They would suck his you know what for that. I hate to admit if what we need is a horrible situation in this country to get him out then so be it. I would rather it happens this year rather then when the dems get in for it to happen. If he is in 4 more years, the US is gone as we know it. And I don't know after that if there will be more elections. So I think this is when the rubber meets the road. I would love to see him impeached but not going to happen with mcconnell.
I'm to damn old to be trying to immigrate to another country. Even hubs has said Canada wouldn't be to bad. But we are old, not employed and they won't want people like us, young and healthy will be in front of us.
Looks like the futures is still dropping at 24675 so far, down 144 more from the closing. Wealth disappearing like crazy all across the board.
Just saw where trump must be talking about tariffs on India now. What next?

I am the 41%. [img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/smile.gif" alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png"] Since the democratic vote total is about 53 percent of total voters, 41% number is pretty weak. Wait until Barr announces FBI leaders and Hillary Clinton and DNC have committed illegal acts against a Presidential campaign to destrot Trump. Let's see how well that polls with America.

Barr has no credibility at this point.
And when asked if he cared he said, everyone dies...

When the Nixon hearings started the % was 19%... There is a point to public hearings... I have to admit I'm undecided on whether to impeach or not.
Yes the Senate will vote against it, and yes the GOP will claim the dems don't care about the voters because they're wasting their time on impeachment.
However, there are so many American voters who only get their news from Fox and Friends or Rush Limbaugh and they really don't know what the Mueller report actually said. Even when Mueller came out last week and very pointedly said if they'd found no evidence that Trump committed obstruction, they would have said there was no evidence - that statement was removed from the video Fox and Friends aired. They showed a sanitized version of his comments.
So now I'm thinking the only wall all Americans will hear about what was actually discovered in the Mueller report, and not the carefully edited version Barr and Fox and Friends want released, is if we have public impeachment hearings. Even then, Americans will need to watch the whole thing, unabbreviated, to hear the whole story and not just what Barr and Trump want them to hear. But maybe it will reach some of them.
So even if they don't have an actual impeachment vote, just having the hearing may be enough to wake up some the Sleeping Beauty voters who remain cocooned in their protective Fox and Friends wrapping, and that may be worth it.

We have Vanguard and Principal and pretty stable funds in there, nothing else is in stocks so we are fine. There re always crash and burns and highs in stocks. In retirement you can't afford the huge swings, don't have time to recover yet still have to take money out yearly. We will be fine.
I think he needs impeached, I think it will likely be a mistake to try to do it because of the above reasons by happyhoix.

I do agree this is a very significant point in our history. But I see it as something the American people need to deal with and decide. President Trump is more a symptom than a cause. There will just be another demagogue elected if that is the direction the people are going to go.

When the Nixon hearings started the % was 19%... There is a point to public hearings... Yes, but, the news cycle was very different then. Even with odd ball publications and regional differences, everyone at least heard the same basic national news through a much less slanted lens.

Why waste time on impeachment proceedings? The general election is a little over a year away and there is no way it will ever pass both houses in that period of time. Congress has more important things to think about. I wonder what Dems don't want to deal with to even think about impeachment. it won't pass both houses in the next decade, imo.
