It seems biggest sticking point stopping the forming of a government is the question of ultra orthodox being conscripted into the Armed Forces.. At the time of the formation of the State in 1948, ultra orthodox were about 3% of the population of Israel...Most of the Hasidic Jews of Europe..[ultra religious] were killed off in the Holocaust...A deal was made with Ben Gurion..[Israel first PM...like our G. Washington] to not draft the ultra religious...needed to grow the #'s...continued up to today till recently... Many reason this part of the population do not want to serve...next article kind of explains it..There was just a gathering of American Hasidim in AMERICA of all places..over 20,000 in support of the Israeli ultra religious protest.. ============================== www.quora.com/What-are-the-reasons-that-most-Haredi-ultra-Orthodox-Jews-oppose-conscription-And-what-has-been-the-reaction-to-this

Fascinating development. Puts Bibi in a sticky spot. I heard this morning on NPR that part of his problem was also that he tried to form a coalition with a majority of members who believe you could not/ should not indict a sitting Prime Minister, (sound familiar, lol?) and couldn't get it done. Re-election now will be a bit more difficult because some previous supporters may defect due to his inability to form a coalition. In the meantime, in a classic case of bad timing, Jarod Kushner just flew into Jerusalem last evening to work on peace talks. His mission seems to be in limbo now. Might as well take in the sights instead. And Kushner is saying that the journalist that the Saudi prince killed was a terrorist. No link, but I read it some place earlier today. Someone needs to get Kushner out of the WH & government!!
