Did anyone else watch the revived live version? I saw half of the Jeffersons during the broadcast, and watched AITF on Hulu this morning.
I felt like I was watching a high school production. Way over the top and just bad impersonations.
Jennifer Hudson nailed the Jeffersons theme song though. That was bitchen!

Some things just ought not be done and re-makes of Norman Lear productions is one of them, or I should say, are many of them. They were entertaining social commentary and appropriate for their time but bigotry and prejudice are no longer laughing matters, if they ever really were.
Maybe I'm just bored by so many re-makes and would rather see something new. Or maybe I'm just a cranky little old lady.

Well, it was live.......and I think we can all say we remember the original actors and their performances over a few years. Those were some huge performances for these actors to match when you expect the performers to actually be the original cast members..... Quite frankly, at first I thought they were merging several different AITF skits, as I did not remember the performance as strictly one performance. Memory has a way of changing the original performance in our heads. There was only one Archy, one Edith, etc, and hard shoes to fill. The production and expectations are much different for a series than for a Musical such as the Lion King done live, as musicals are more about the actual songs rather than the actors themselves.
