My wife and I spent almost everyday celebrating our heroes at various events, contemplating the greatness of Americans and I read this article this morning.

As someone who lives close to a beach, the rule is "leave nothing behind but your footprints". Even seeing an occasional piece of trash left behind bothers me, but GOOD GRIEF Virginia Beach! What a bunch of selfish slobs!  |

People suck, that’s the only reason I can come up with. The same thing happens on public lands all the time, why take care of my trash, I can just it here and it’s someone else’s problem.

The NDPL protesters,who were all about keeping the environment and river clean, left 80 tons of trash and were running raw sewage into the river. Not to mention the threats against people on the roadway trying to get back and forth to work. Being paid to protest and get arrested. There were so many arrests that it overwhelmed the legal system. All but the worst offenders, walked. The are worse than the sewage.

Maybe they need to start running those public service ads again with the Native American crying over garbage left on the road side. I remember that having an impact on me as a kid.
