Well, they got it half right.  I like cool tones, but really don't like the color green.  (That'd be the first one off of my list of suggested colors.)

I like cool tones and some warm ones. I am expanding my color likes. I love blue and green together, but only certain greens. 
They picked me as beachy, which I somewhat am, but I live inland and so not much beachy stuff except during NJ shore season.

It was correct on the minimalist part, but way off on color and style.  I do not like bright colors and no shabby chic for me.

Free spirited risk taker. I just call my style curb side chic since I have stuff I've redone. Most came from curbs on trash pick up day. I love all styles to some degree. There's a word for it but brain fart happening.

I'm a classic minimalist according to them, but I have neither stainless steel appliances or quartz countertops.

I'd say I was the farmhouse type (was that an option?) but with limitations.  I don't like things that serve no purpose (think a set of old scales or something).  Now sometimes the purpose can be simply that I love it, which is ok.

I am classic but it said clear countertops and such, I only wish, I don't have enough places to put all my gadgets in this kitchen.  I ever have another house, its having a bar and lots of storage like my last one.  


And I have a lot of tan only because to have the gray walls I would like to have all my furniture would have to recovered or changed out and not doing that.  They house was tan when we bought it, carpets and walls.  I thought about changing color when I painted last year but entailed so much more.  I have subtle moss green curtains in my office with inside panels of leaves, same design in the living in a pretty blue, in our bedroom same style in cream and in DD's room in rose with matching interior panels.  In our bathroom, the rugs, curtains, and shower curtain is lavender, in hers is pink, I change them often, have blue, grey, orange, all colors.  I do like color.  The kitchen valance is cream and barn red.

I don't really fit in any of their descriptions.

It said Classic Minimalist. I'm not sure why all the black/grey/stainless is considered Minimalist... BLECH. (another rehab has happened and they sided the now ginormous house in dark grey and gave it black trim... why?? it looks like something out of a horror movie. I can only assume that dark grey and black siding is super cheap. I would imagine even the Addams Family would shudder at the horror this house has become. )

Yes, I am a minimalist and like clean lines - just not black/grey ones EVERYWHERE. When is grey going to be "out of style"?

I know. In my head, I'm totally a minimalist. My husband laughs out loud every time I say that though. 


Part of the problem is that my mother is an actual hoarder, so I am a minimalist compared to her which is why I think I'm one. I'm just average compared to the rest of the world.

I would call you a just-rightist. I don't remember all your house pics exactly, but I do remember they were very neat and clean. Minimalism to me means a little sparse and also modern.

Back in the day when I was married and had a big ole house someone said my home reminded her of IHOP (International House of Pancakes)  Every room reflected a different style - but I had an interior decorator tell me once that if I like it, it worked and others opinions be damned. I think I am eclectic to the point of controlled chaos

When an interior designer says 'If you like it, don't worry about how everyone else hates it' you know it is probably not right.

I am redoing my house now, and I am not utilizing a friend who does design. She is going to rip me apart. Hopefully she will have the decency to do it behind my back (with my other friend who has amazing style, but it is very different from what I like).

As long as I like it I really don't give a flying sh## what a decorator or anyone else thinks. Who decides what is right or wrong? Seems to me the one spending the money and more importantly living with the décor!!

But I don't have a problem with people who let someone else decide what their rooms look like - to each his own

My house is also a random collection of stuff and will always be that way.  I'm still using furniture the church group from grad school gave to my roommate and me when we got our first apartment together along with furniture my mom gave me at that time.  That furniture is made to last, unlike today's furniture.
