A good friend does. She absolutely loves it. She lives in southwestern Pennsylvania, actually in the mountains, and has it open April through October. It was her retirement gift to herself. No idea how much it cost, but I do know that even though it has about twice as much water as her hot tub did, it’s actually cheaper to run than the hot tub was.

What's a swim spa? I want a one or two person steam room installed if I ever get a house again.

What's a swim spa? I want a one or two person steam room installed if I ever get a house again. It’s a heated swimming pool, with a current to swim against. It’s about the size of two four-person hot tubs right next to each other. www.royalspa.com/swim-spas/

It’s like a hot tub with swimming area... jets or other mechanisms push a current to swim against.

It’s like a hot tub with swimming area... jets or other mechanisms push a current to swim against. It sounds like it would take some real pumping power to operate a swim spa. I wonder how much per hour it will cost to run that kind of pumping capacity? And how long a pump is expected to last? And how much such a pump would cost to replace?

Swimming pools have pumps too... they don’t pump as strongly maybe but much more water...

Is the pump only on when you are using it?
We have a regular pool, and I have seen those little ones with currents. That would give me a large part of my backyard back to me.

Yes. I think so? I am making lists of questions to ask. Different systems use different methods as well, some jets, some fan like propeller current. Some have seats for hot tub like jets as well..
Was not on my radar but went into a local pool place to start gathering info on pools and they had one on display, just been discontinued and floor model on deep discount, started looking at them...
