President Trump has again declared a "national emergency" in a situation in which no emergency exists simply to bypass a Congress he knows would not authorize an action he wishes to take. Whether Congress should or should not authorize it is reasonably open to debate and there is a thread in which that has started to take place. However there should be simple condemnation of the action of the declaring of the "national emergency".

I am beginning to think most conservatives just want their 8 years. They don't really care how bad Trump is, because they want to wash out some of that liberal. Hence all the ummm laws in red & purple states targeting abortion. P.S. I had enough before Mr. two gestures was even elected. Ever notice how he seems to use the big two open hand gesture in every speech to appear bigger and more important?

Ever notice how he seems to use the big two open hand gesture in every speech to appear bigger and more important? One of my least favorite Trumpian hand gestures is when he touches his forefingers to his thumbs and sticks his other fingers up in the air, waving both hands up and down for emphasis as he talks.
Usually, he does that mouth pursing thing at the same time.
It looks mincing and overly dramatic. I would suggest someone on his staff should tell him that, but hell, he doesn't listen to them.
Here he is, full mince.

What an idiot.

The first one is still playing out in the courts but it worked from the standpoint that Congress failed to stop it. He is weakening the Legislative Branch while appointing more and more judges to the Judicial Branch.

So if Trump is successful is pulling money dedicated to one part of the federal budget and spending it on another due to a trumped up faux crisis, does that mean the next Dem POTUS will be able to pull a bunch of money from the military to pay for the crisis of poor people not having access to healthcare?
I'm curious why the GOP members of Congress would be enthusiastic about the POTUS expanding his powers in this way. Unless they can't imagine a future in which there will ever be a DEM POTUS again, which seems a little short sighted. Perhaps a conservative member of the board can explain this for me.

... I'm curious why the GOP members of Congress would be enthusiastic about the POTUS expanding his powers in this way. ... We might be viewing it completely wrong. What if the goal of Congressional members is to totally abdicate any actual power in the governance of the nation? They could hold meetings, press conferences, and pass non-binding resolutions to their hearts content. But with no power comes no bottom line responsibility.

No problem. They'll just become reborn constitutionalist again and act all prim and proper hypocrical until next time they hold the WH. I wish I were kidding but unfortunately I believe that is exactly what will happen. They'll turn on a dime
