this is why we tend to discount his followers. rather than being embarrassed and ashamed that their titular leader lies constantly, they derive prurient pleasure from how it makes OTHERS feel.
sickening.
You're kind of wandering into general Trump/Republican slamming here. not really.
this is the first time I have ever properly articulated my grievance. I have actually seen Trump fans doing this, but until you put it to me (again) today, I didn't realize how infantile and disgraceful it is. and it is not like I have not seen this behavior before. it is precisely what bullies do. it is a form of humiliation. Trump fans ENJOY watching other people get angry.
well, I don't. I think it is disgusting.
should I hide that, rather than saying so? or should I say it, and offer them the possibility of simply saying "yeah, his lying bugs me too".

Reminds me of the kids who would stand in the background and jeer when the bully pushed the skinny kid around in HS.
this is PRECISELY it.
I have always rooted for the underdog.
you know- the kid that guys like Trump beat up?

Who are you arguing with? No one on this thread has claimed there are people who don't lie. They are saying they don't want the president to lie, continually, in public, on TV and tweets, and we don't understand how the Trumpettes just laugh that chronic lying off.
Everyone shits, too, but who wants to see the POTUS shit on national TV, in the oval office, on the famous oval office desk, while he proclaims himself the best shitter ever, really, the finest kind of shit there is?
And yet they quote and add conditions, lol. of course!
because we expect more of our president than "everybody".
don't you?

No I don't. (bolded) I also don't let people insult me in an oblique format. (Not referring to you) If I don't quote you directly, I'm definitely not answering what you have said. I won't say Trumps lying bothers me because it doesn't. As I've repeated, everyone lies. The conditions applied to it are almost unlimited and subjective.

I think some people "enjoy" the entertainment value of our current POTUS, rather than to consider the long-term consequences of his time in office. Yes, I know there is plenty of "posturing" in the political arena, but, it's never been about entertainment. It's about our future as a country. And, we can't have true leadership from anyone who flips their position as easily as some folks flip a coin, or just plain lies to get what they want. There's a HUGE (yes, I chose that word on purpose) difference between someone who tells little white lies, like "I like your haircut", compared to someone who's just making stuff up as he goes along. I'm not sure any of our allies from other countries really trust the US right now, and frankly, I don't blame them.

edit: either that, or you will have to explain to me what you meant when you said that his followers get pleasure/joy out of watching Trump causing other people to melt down. because that is what I am complaining about.

This is nothing new. Never tried to think through the reasons other than maybe everyone is always gunning after #1, in regards to military, economy, standard of living, etc. Our allies never 'really' trust us. It's like sleeping next to an elephant. No matter how good natured the beast, it might roll over in it's sleep.

It's what I've seen here recently. I can't really blame them with all the Trump bashing either. It's tiresome. Yes, everyone who didn't vote for him thinks he's a (add 100 negative adjectives here) president. I got it.

I am, and that's OK. I've seen to many hoaxes being perpetrated by those who drink deeply of the liberal media's koolaid. I'll call anyone out on it when I'm here. Well, every troll's gotta troll, little x, whatever gets you off.

Question that maybe someone has some real facts on...
He stated that he is being investigated more than any President in history. Is that a true statement? Were the investigations into Nixon and Reagan narrow enough to stay contained? How does the number of investigations he is going through compare to the number Hillary has been subject to?

much larger group than this board.
got it. you meant here. thanks.
edit: in turn, I would add that my comments didn't apply to anyone here, if you were not addressing this issue. I was ONLY talking about what I see out there in the greater voting universe. I don't actually care what happens here all that much. we are a small group. we just don't matter that much.
note: I edited my post to "depersonalize" it, based on your reply.

Everyone lies. Even those who claim that I change their posts, when only a mod can do that. People even lie to themselves, as it's impossible to accept all possibility, and remain sane. Phil doesn't lie. He said so. ""Phil....not lies, just phrases..? You have kids, grand lids.....? When they tell a lie your response is a chuckle and a ..? Come on already...I am guessing u never served the country...if so u understand....one does not lie...just not done...it's a sign of a weak coward.""
Yes, kids and grandkids. And yes, Army 1957. And no, I don't lie - and I don't tolerate it from my kids/grandkids.

There was a period of "the ugly American..[even a book about it] but then came the Berlin Airlift.. [one of the true marvels of post ww2 times...] the invasion of Hungary, Checkoslavakia and it's after matt doings to those countries leaders at those times...also the Korean War and Europe's allies participation...for the most part feelings did calm down and change...plus those good old American tourists and dollars helped too... I would suggest today because of the "bullies " mouth and actions...for the most part...many of our long time allies have second negative thoughts about the relationships between the USA and themselves...

Actually I HAVE travelled quite a bit and have found most countries like most Americans, even though they think our current “leader” is a POS Now, they don’t like assholes, so if you go abroad and act like one, you’ll get the impression you aren’t liked.

Or did, until 2017. The Pew Global Attitudes Project did a survey about eight months after Trump took office. In 35 of the 37 countries surveyed, support for America's president dropped, in most cases precipitously. In comparing those who had either a lot or some confidence in Barack Obama to those who had a lot or some confidence in Donald Trump, the largest decline was in Sweden with a drop from 93% to 10%. The Netherlands and Germany had a 75-point drop, and three others were -68 or more. 17 countries were -41 or more, and 29 were -20 or more. The only two in which Trump scored higher were Israel and Russia. Also: World Opinion of Trump and U.S.And if you think it has improved for him in the years since, you are deluded.

So how many lies does it take to make you a bad president? Now don't concern yourself with that question. Trump would be a horrible president even if he told the truth. The fact that his supporters don't hold him accountable for his lies is an indictment of them and their character, not so much of him. He has already demonstrated his own, and will be as dark a stain on America's history as we have yet seen from our political system.

I try to put myself in Donald's shoes. He has been undermined since before he was even elected by never Trumper's as well as every Democrat.
He knew he broke no laws, and it all goes back to the Clinton's and the dossier. I would be a madhatter just like he is and I probably would act the way he has too.
The Republican were so docile and afraid to control the discussion from day one of the Inaugueration letting him out there by himself.

You too. Not according to the "definition " of...this is the only board I post on....have been consistent in my feelings of our current POTUS and political leanings....middle leaning left....and at times a rip roaring full fledged liberal.... -------------------------------- In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion,[3] whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain. Both the noun and the verb forms of "troll" are associated with Internet discourse. However, the word has also been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, the mass media have used "troll" to mean "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families".[4][5] In addition, depictions of trolling have been included in popular fictional works, such as the HBO television program The Newsroom, in which a main character encounters harassing persons online and tries to infiltrate their circles by posting negative sexual comments.

However, I disagree with the bolded. I am not so sure about that, and the cover up of the Stormy Daniels affair is a case in point. The Mueller investigation has also showed obstruction of justice, no matter how much trump denies it. And who knows what lurks in his business and tax records. Again, why did he want this? "The Mueller investigation has also showed obstruction of justice, no matter how much trump denies it"

"""lying about WMD made Bush a bad president, imo.""
During the WMD crisis, I felt that we (the US public) had it backwards. There was a suspicion that Iraq had weapons - and the US was barred from seeing them.
IMO, it was necessary to our national defense for the US learn the truth - ie, stockpiled WMD, or no WMD. Ie, clear the area - physically verify the status. And that is what Bush did. (Maybe that is because I was an engineer in the Defense Industry for 35 years, I helped design and test those things).

Some of the “US public” were sold a story and swallowed it down with a glass of Kool-Aid. Cheney in particular lied through his teeth and they deliberately connected Saddam and Bin Laden which was complete BS.

Maybe if we weren't over there mucking around where we had no business it would not even be an issue. Now we are all set to do it again with Iran. We're waist deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool says to push on.I guess his belligerencies against others...thinking N. Korea...he was threatening thunder and lightening...even China...Philippines and of course Iran, Syria and when his time came , he opted out...his own words to his now jailed former attorney....man would have been a officer...never seen over seas duty...most likely with his years agoconnections, ...influence and experience...housing officer on a base...possible Ft Drum...Ft Dix...close to the city... I know many opted out if they could but the man is a President...there is a difference...and yes I was against the War but went... [thought about Canada but Dad, cousins uncle said no...all WW2 veterans] served, saw action, survived but group counseling was a blessing.....performed well if I say so myself...spilled a bit of blood....and this weekend...it is a bit more then just a holiday for me...in past , twice, made it to DC to the monument...unable to now...so long ago now but one still has it on ones mind...saw a guy at local breakfast place last month with friends.....had a baseball cap on with bronze star insignia and Korea ribbons...yep recognized them and stopped to thank him for his service , quick conversation...Marine..was on the withdrawal from the Yalo River..that action over 69 years ago, still fresh in his mind... I do hold it , his actions , against the Donald....[one of many] ============================ www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/buttigieg-trump-faked-being-disabled-to-get-out-of-vietnam/ar-AABO2Kb
