apparently I'm the only one who bothers to pay attention when we learn new stuff. Then when it's split up among all of us, everyone else sits there helpless expecting me to teach them/do it for them. I'm so sick of doing that for everyone. What are they going to do when I'm on vacation for a week next month? Or when I'm on maternity leave for 12-13 weeks beginning in August?

They are going to flounder around helplessly until you return MJ. I'd say they'd learn but somehow I doubt that. Sorry.

it's not the kind of job where you can just let stuff languish. They'll be working their asses off, no question.

Beth, I can't imagine putting up with a 1/4 of the crap she does but she does it. That's why I say she doesn't think she deserves better. Her wedding was supposed to be in May, and she screwed it all up last month. I'm pretty sure at least one of my coworkers thinks I put up with too much crap from dh. but it's hard to be around people like that. I've got a friend who would smack her alongside the head and ask (in ringing tones) "WHAT were you THINKing?" (Beth rubs side of her head in memory.)

There are different levels of crap Beth, once someone puts his hands around your neck and starts to squeeze you've passed too much. Actually you probably passed too much way on back there and are looking at death but she's not that smart.

I've learned from where I work, if they really have not learned the skills they're supposed to have by now, it just ain't gonna happen. Maybe they'll attempt to do some of the work, but not all they should be doing. Sorry Jen, but hang in there and don't let them get to you.

One of the reasons I love my job so much. If I don't do something, no one can or will. And similarly, I don't have to do anything that is someone else's work.

Have you asked her "Ok, so he tried to kill you once, remind me why you're going back to him? And please make sure you have a will..."

No, I haven't spoken directly or indirectly to her since she did all this. I'm afraid I'll lose it and tell her what I really think and my DD will never see her favorite cousin again. And she has such limited time before I think I'm gonna have to cut her off anyway. (just don't see her DD learning what NOT to do here)

If she starts acting like her mama I'm gonna have to, I can't be around enough to counter mom's bad influence so I'll just have to space visits waaaaayyy out and then slowly cut them off. I'm working on the spacing out part already.

I haven't had to cut anyone out of my family. I can't imagine how hard it must be. I've gone one of those ginormous families that get along most of the time. And when we don't, well, there's always the water balloon fight at my parents house to open up the summer bbq season there.

I basically cut my dad out, but he was pretty "out" to begin with so it wasn't a huge change. I still haven't formally told him that he's going to be a grandfather. Oh well! Other than that, my family's cool and I love them.

<makes note to go to Beth's house for Easter> I've invited a bunch of people to come over on Good Friday, in the morning, to dye Easter eggs. The more the merrier.
